So, I have no real opinion on whether or not one should be run. But I am going to +1 on the Kaspersky One which covers up to 5 devices, to include Macs, PCs, and mobiles devices. I personally carry it in the store for the super paranoid.
I do agree with you. They have been marketing their product in an inelegant way, to say the least. And it has been getting worse. But then again, given that Mac's hardly need an antivirus, if a customer decides to install security, then its irrelevant which one they go for, as antiviruses haven't really been put to test with Mac's due to the lack of security issues. I wouldn't go out of my way to recommend an antivirus to a customer, but if they insist, then i sell then Mackeeper. It has quite a few tools as-well as an antivirus, and i make a profit.
