Acronis not overwriting backups?

Hi guys,

I'm running Acronis True Image 11 software on my desktop computer and have Acronis set to do these tasks automatically every week:
Full Backup: Sun.
Differential Backup: Mon. - Sat.

These seem to be working but I cannot get Acronis to start overwriting the backups on week 2. It just keeps accumulating backups and continues making differential backups. What I'm wanting it to do is to always keep the latest current week worth of backups then start overwriting them on week 2.... with a new Full backup and new diff. backups for the new week.

Anyone know how I accomplish this?

Thanks in advance guys!

Hi, tauzin,

Good question, and I had the same one myself. I had a chat session with an Acronis rep this morning. Here's part of my chat transcript:

Nadezhda: I would like to inform you that you may create the backup location on the drive and set the limits for it (maximum number of backups or location size quota). Then schedule the task to this backup location.
Nadezhda: When the quotas will be exceeded the oldest backups will be overwritten with the new ones.

I did some digging into the program, and these choices are made in the Create Backup Location and Edit Backup Location buttons in the Manage Backup Locations window (my version, V.10, opens with the "Pick a Task" window, and the page you want is under "Create and Configure Backup Locations" at the bottom of that window).

I haven't used these control yet, but I will soon, since my sister's computer, which I set up with a 2nd internal HDD and Acronis, is getting rather full with backups.

I hope this helps!

P.S. If you have the space, I would let a few backups accumulate and only overwrite the oldest - you never know when a backup will go wrong, and you just lost your only good image.
