4K source still not availible to public

Yeah, not much of a point in having a 4K TV when the vast majority of stuff
available isn't 4K. Most stuff isn't even 1080p yet.

I personally do not even have HD cable. I get cable for free through the company that
I work for, they reimburse for my internet/cable. I wouldn't even have it if it weren't included.
I HATE that everything is in lame SD but I don't need it bad enough to pay for HD. It would
probably tack on $60-$100 more a month on my cable bill. I can imagine 4K services would
be a hefty increase in price as well.

No need IMO.

Even gaming nothing is in true 4k yet everything is 1080p upscaled true 4k textures would be huge requiring a huge amount of video ram to store even current consoles cannot play games in 4k only video.

I think my Bluray copy of the movie Fury is 4K. I vaguely remember it saying so on the box, I'll have to check.

It's just like the push for 3D TV's that everyone bought into the last several years and there still is very little 3D content available today.

Lots of people don't like the look that true 1080p HD has. They say it looks fake. If 4k ever takes off, think what people will say about how fake it looks and think about how bad content that is up-converted to it will look. Heck, up-converted 720p doesn't always look good at 1080p.

Yep, you're right, just checked it. Which means they could have given us 4k, but decided to sell that version to us later >:|

I have yet to see a player that does 4k in its native mode. Have you? Does the HDMI interface even support 4k? I haven't done any research since it's not being asked for by anybody I deal with yet.

HDMI Version 1.4 supports 4k, we're on HDMI 2 now. I use my PC as my media player, so I haven't paid any attention to standalone bluray players.

Just bought a huge 4k TV and hooked it up to my main computer. It's absolutely beautiful. But you need to be careful. The TV I bought has a refresh rate of 120Hz, but when you plug it into 3 of the 4 HDMI ports the refresh rate is only 27Hz. The mouse cursor jumps and movies don't play smoothly.

Thankfully 1 of the HDMI ports on the TV supports 60Hz. I upgraded my graphics card, bought a super thick HDMI cable and plugged it into that one port and I've got full 4k at 60Hz now. It works great with the 4-corner snap feature of Windows 10. I have no idea why 3 out of the 4 HDMI ports don't deliver a decent refresh rate. It's going to suck if that one HDMI port goes out for whatever reason. But according to the instructions, that's how it's supposed to be.

I bought a 4k Asus PB287Q 4K UHD monitor was on sale for $500 still no source for 4K blu-ray as of Sept 2015 lol and they wonder why people don't buy them that's like buying a tv but there are no tv broadcasts yet but it looks good in the living room.
No games support 4K heck even the xbox one does not support true 1080p and it is next gen??.
What is cool about the monitor i can watch a 1080p movie and play a game side by side or picture in picture on same monitor.

We'll see if 4k really takes off. It seems like if I remember right, they said you could only really tell the difference close up, but that at say 10 feet away, 1080p and 4k look the same. So realistically at that point, there would not be much point in spending more for 4k unless they were the same price or cheaper than displays with 1080p support.

Case in point, does anyone remember 3d tv?

That is not the case 4k is VERY noticeable at 10 ft away looks extremely realistic and sharp i did find a true 4k demo on net it was HUGE the detail is insane too bad though you can't buy 4k blu-ray yet.

Even then mostly we watch tv or we stream hd movies vs getting a blu ray or DVD. Seems like it's going to be a while before streaming in 4k is common.

Wow October is almost over and i still can't buy an ultra hd blu-ray player or buy ultra hd blu-ray movies how long has 4k been out since 2012 prices keep dropping but try to buy a 4k movie is still impossible at this time.
