3 drive Raid Failed 1 drive, forced the raid back online and 2nd drive failed.

Well, it is fortunate that the data is backed up and the data on the drives is not needed. Sadly, when we get RAID recoveries in for assessment, the two most common reasons for our not being able to recover the data are:

1. Unrecoverable multiple drive failure
2. Damage to the RAID from attempts of forcing the system back online and rebuilding

I had a RAID 6 recovery come in a couple years ago where the owner told the tech that the data was super important and to not do anything that would risk losing his data and that he wanted to bring it into me in the morning. The tech ignored his client and completely destroyed the RAID meta data, forced stale drives online and made a huge mess of everything.

It took my advanced RAID data recovery engineer (one of the best, if not the best, in the world) several weeks to build a custom script to extract and recover the data from this mess. It cost the client over 5 times more to recover the data and the tech didn't even own up to it.

So, as in the OP's case, do not attempt to rebuild a RAID and/or force it back online without being 100% sure that the data is backed up and verified.
