    Drupal vs Wordpress

Shopify is a shopping cart platform. Its cloud hosted by them, you dont host it. It depends on the clients needs. Whether it is single products, or an entire range. If its a range, I would definitely go Shopify. As someone in this space, eCommerce can get real complex real fast. Go with one of...

    Drupal vs Wordpress

As @HCHTech said, Wordpress won the war with Drupal. However, Wordpress is a blogging platform first, and I wouldnt recommend it for any major eCommerce. Simple single product delivery sure, but not multiple products. Yes, there are plugins that can make it handle it, but your client is far...

pi-hole any downsides to using it

Run this on a Pi-Zero on my network. As others said, only downsides is the occasional blocking of something you don't want blocked. Otherwise it's great.

    Always buy extra shocks.

As someone who has done podcasting, been interviewed via Video etc.. I know how nerve-wracking it can be. Its harder than it looks to get in front of the cam. So here is my feedback: If the channel is for the business, Id consider changing the channel name to your business name. Take a look...

    Website Issue

Turn off your code Minifying plugin. Might be incorporated with something else like YoastSEO, W3 Total Cache, WP Super Cache, All-in-one-SEO.

    Mobile version of your website?

Most Wordpress themes are responsive now and will adjust to the size of the screen. In fact, its encouraged to design for mobile FIRST and desktop second since more people are using their phones to look things up these days. If someone is searching for your keyword and they are on mobile...

    Thoughts on my website?

Got a few spacing issues, like the Contact Us hitting the line above it, and the Submit button hitting the very bottom of the page. Your time till first byte is bad too, its currently at a 4 second wait before the server sends me anything. You also have a few seriously uncompressed images...

    Thoughts on my website?

Pretty good, with a few small changes. Under "Need Support?", The Download Teamviewer button is as big as the Contact Tech Support one. I can see people clicking the TeamviewerQS one and going "Now what?". You want them to call you first, and THEN you can direct them to Teamviewer. Id make it a...

    SmartTV as bulletin board

Raspberry Pi plus signage software. Plenty of them out there. Pi can output to HDMI or S-Video. I hear people using Screenly.io as glennd suggested.

    Heyyy. Another logo thread.

Took me a second too. I was like: "Hmm... something is... off.... what is it? ..... hmmm.... AH, its the N!"

    Heyyy. Another logo thread.

The "N" is triggering my OCD. Its the uppercase N, at a lowercase size. Look at the rigid uppercase M in Mr, and the curvy lowercase "m" at the end. They are two different styles as they should be. But the N isnt a lowercase N, its a little uppercase N. Im sure most people wont notice it...

If you could give your former self starting out advice in getting started?

If you enjoy doing something, then sure, do it yourself. The point here is that the person did NOT enjoy it. Its not entirely true where its only lost money if you spent the hour doing nothing. Time has a cost, whether monetry or actual hours. The time that has the highest value for me is to...

If you could give your former self starting out advice in getting started?

Learn your effective hourly rate and outsource everything below it. Dont get Superhero syndrome. Just because you can do a task, doesnt mean you should. Story from literally last night: Them: "The lawnmower guy wanted $30 to do the lawns so I did it myself" (was a fairly small lawn, but the...

    New Landing Page

My thoughts: The layout is ok, its just that your text isnt designed to sell. Front Page: Only one reaaaally small phone number on the front page in the top left. Easy to miss. I would put a much larger one somewhere on the front page. Remote Support - "Let our technicians take control" is...

    Accepted as an AVG Reseller

This probably wasnt wise. I read this as: "To prove that I will get banned, I did what the other guys did and got banned from the platform my entire business relies on". With eBay, you are up against anyone who is willing to work for less than you. And there are a lot of people who live in...

[REQUEST] Just Recreated My Website (Hows It Looks?)

As technicians, we can generally figured out anything given enough time. Especially technical stuff. However, that doesnt mean we should. Our time is better spent getting clients and fixing computers because the value of those tasks is far greater than trying to save money making our own site...
