What's your thoughts on the Corsair Flash Voyager GTR? Considering the the read/write speeds, it is one of the fastest drives on the market.

Do you think it looks unprofessional? If you're trying to look techie and professional in front of your client, then pull out this big yellow rubber looking thing....

It's a flash drive. Why would anyone care? If your clients judge you based on the color of a tool you use, quit working for them.

After using it for awhile the rubber outside separated from pcb, and the USB portion would just pull out. Corsair replaced, and upgraded it though. Other then that its been great.

I own one also. It has been washed, dried, etc. Still works great. I did have to have it replaced recently due to separating from rubber case and cap was lost. Corsair, replaced it with no issues, would buy down the road. My customers are more concerned about fixing the equipment than what color the tools are to get to the end result they want.

I use one too.

I really think that when a customer sees a tool that they recognize but looks a little unusual, most seem to think it's a "professional" grade device that's being used. (At least that's the feeling I've gotten from the few who have asked about it.)

I've had no problems with the rubber casing separating as some have, I've found the thumbdrive to be extremely durable.

The only thing I'll point out to be aware of: the drive is fat. In height and width. On some boxes I've had to unplug another USB device to have room to fit it in a port .

No big deal, just something to keep in mind.

That's funny! I've never given much thought to how my thumbdrives look.

Even if you don't like the color, look at the "bright" side - it's that much harder to forget it stuck in a customer's computer at on onsite.

Thank you for the replies and feedback from those that have owned the Voyager.

Of course, I've used tons of flash drives over the years. I've been happy with OCZ's Rally2 Turbo for a while, but they quit manufacturing the 8GB and it's getting harder to find, so I'm considering a Voyager GTR.

If you want a fast usb flash drive take a look at the Kingston DTU30/16GB. It's rated at 60MB/s writes & 80MB/s reads for USB3 & 30MB/s read & writes for USB2. I just bought one recently & I'm pretty happy with it. Even using USB2 it's about as fast as an external drive since the USB2 bus is the limiting factor.
