Just a general question.

How many work on a Sunday?

I find with my business support I tend to be cheking servers and updates on a Sunday morning. Today I am instaling some AV on 3 new PCs ready for installation tomorrow.
Will be doing some invoicing later which I didn't do during the week.

Anyone else as sad as me or is it just me?
To be fair its a bit too chilly to get out on the motorbike and I wasn't teaching people to learn to ride yesterday

I normally work Sundays normal just to get caught up with work or work on personal projects. . I'm not in today although I should be, but I'm dieing with man flu.

I have "Weekend slots" available in my work description. As I work from home, I'm not averse to receiving the occasional call on a Sunday.

So long as it isn't too intrusive. Some techs have fixed rules which avoid weekend working altogether.

Personally, as I consider this job more as a lifestyle, it goes with the territory.

I should have said I work from home so its not unusual for me to be working. Phone doesn't usually ring but on the odd occasion it does its not an issue for me if I am in the office

If I'm exteemely busy, (and we aren't doing anything special) on Sunday's, I'll work, or do a couple of hours.

I'll answer the phone, and book jobs in for the following week.

But other than that, it's the only time I have off with the family. And invariably we are out somewhere.

Don't work Sunday unless it an emergency.

Iike most other tech I work damn hard the rest of the week often long unsociable hours so Sunday is set aside for family and relaxing.

I'll do paperwork while watching football but the phone goes to voicemail. I'll work on a Sunday but like the plumber you'll pay for that privilege.

Closed Sundays, but in reality since I work from home I will spend a few hours in my shop.
I don't take calls and insure that I'm done before the football game starts.

If you support businesses....yup you work 7x days a week....and early in the morning weekdays (doing remote work before clients get into their offices)...and late in evenings remote work (after clients leave offices).

As for clients...I book appts now on Sat am, but anything after that until Monday am is $193 an hour and not many want to pay that rate. I will book regular priced appointments if it works out better for me, busy week, time off, etc. My side projects are always my nights/weekend work.

Don't really work Sundays at all. If anything I may catch up on some work in the shop if I didn't finish it up on Saturday, otherwise it's a rest day.

I don't work with clients at weekends, but do use the weekends to catch up on paperwork, create installers, download updates for installers, WSUSOffline etc

I very often have a project on, but try not to commit too much time as time off with the family is important!

I quite often work on weekends, simply to offer a convenient service for customers who work a normal 5 day week. If the choice is work a bit on Saturday/Sunday or work a weekday evening when the business isn't open or when the customer is at home, I'd rather take the weekend. However, I also then don't feel guilty if I want to do something for myself on a weekday. Of course it also makes a big difference that I work from home, so over a weekend I can be working on say a virus scan and getting on with other things around the house at the same time. This weekend has been typical with a laptop screen replacement, a printer problem, a system clean and a windows boot error fix, all of which were weekend calls turned into satisfied customers before the next working week starts. I know this wouldn't work for everyone of course, and I'm lucky that my wife is also self employed and has a similar 'flexible working' attitude to life.

I'm in my shop for a couple hours on sunday but we have window shades and we turn off all the lights in the front. We have it clearly marked on our door that we are closed Sunday, all our advertising says the same and our hours are on our business cards. Sure enough, two or three people will be out there tugging on the door every sunday, sometimes stopping to read our hours and then tugging on the door again.

My store is closed on Sundays. I actually work parts of 7 days a week. I have two full timers at the store, I do all the outside service and all the remote maintenance. Some times I just take a morning or afternoon of a weekday off.

I work from home so it can be difficult to extricate myself from the job, plus with more business clients on the books these days, I find myself doing quite a bit of remote stuff on evenings and weekends as to not interrupt their work schedule. Plus, I find it to be less pressure. I can do a bit here and there while doing other things at home.

This past weekend was a bit more eventful and busy though. I had to fix the central heating which suddenly stopped working on Saturday plus I managed to finish my wife's accounts and tax return for her little business. Just got to finish mine now!
(getting an accountant to do the next year's though as it is becoming more than I can comfortably handle.)

I used to work 7 days a week, 15+ hours every day ... did that for maybe 15 years or more.

These days I generally work Mon-Sat (~ 80hrs) and try to take a break from computers on a Sunday, which I usually spend doing jobs around the house, or getting some much needed fresh air and exercise by going on long hikes over the local moors. Although I do usually check various system notification emails and server statuses on Sunday mornings, just for the peace of mind that everything is up and working.

Unfortunately, some of my best customers are retail outlets, open 7 days a week, so I do still have to be contactable and available. I rarely get any calls for anything that can't be fixed remotely though or that won't wait until Monday morning.

I tend to go out both Friday and Saturday nights punking so try not to do any client visits on Saturdays or Sundays. I usually spend a lot of time in my workshop on Saturdays though if I have comps here. Sunday is just my day of rest so I try not to do any work at all but sometimes I do if I am very busy.

... However, I also then don't feel guilty if I want to do something for myself on a weekday. Of course it also makes a big difference that I work from home, so over a weekend I can be working on say a virus scan and getting on with other things around the house at the same time.

Yup...wash off the time sort of speak.
And yeah working from home, remotely, makes things tolerable if you have to get work done. Sitting on the couch watching TV, laptop on the coffee table.
I rarely actually go into the office on weekends...can count the amount of times I do that on one hand.
