Since this is the first snow storm of the 2014 season I thought it appropriate that we start a picture thread to post em if you got them!

Came in from snow blowing about an hour ago and its like I never did. Still nowing hard and suppose to thru monday! 12-18 inches expected (or more) for South Bend, Indiana area.

Actually there were a few others before this one. We just had one on the east coast ("Hercules", I hate f-cking weather channel naming these things).

I think yours is being called "Ion" by the media.

Was watching foxnews the other day and they were talking about the stations naming them. They said that there is no need to name a snow storm. They just call it the storm of <insert year>.

I think its stupid also.

Yeah, TWC is just trying to become a "player" and be taken seriously like NOAA. Lots of people referred to the last storm as "Hercules" but it wasn't actually a "storm" it was a collection of fronts so TWC was wrong. They also refer to them as "Winter Storms" even though they start naming them a month before winter starts and keep naming them until there are no more large snow falls well into the Spring. Its only when the storms are really severe that people start calling them by the names TWC gives them.

it's -12 here right now, I'm going to the gym tonight, but tomorrow am, we are looking at -40 so I'm in all day! and probably until Wed am as it's not much better on Tuesday.

That is freaking cold.

Coffee, my friend from high school is in your town and giving up FB play by plays...kind of interesting. Power outages expected, that's scary!

Weather won't stop me. Had VoIP install early last Thursday and then the cut over early on Fri. Both during what was supposed to be a "huge" snow storm. I don't call 8" over two days to be huge.

At any rate the front you all in the midwest are seeing will probably be "snowed" out by the time it gets here. So we will just see cold weather. Tuesday is supposed to be back down to the low teens again.

It's just freaky. Today, it was almost 50 degrees, this evening it just started to snow, tomorrow we're expecting a low of -5 with -30 wind chills. Folks down this way aren't accustomed to such things....nor is the infrastructure. This could get nasty.

Just got up and made a pot of coffee. Its 0F here now. We are not allowed out on the streets so I have stuff to do in the shop instead.

Cabin Fever yet? :)

Oh, Whatever you do - Dont try this as this man did! :

Yup...a foot or two of snowfall barely slowed things down a few decades ago. "New Englanders" used to consider that normal.

Back then we all drove big old rear wheel drive cars around and we knew how to drive in the snow and get around just fine!

We often still had school, school buses picked us up and dropped us off. Yeah sometimes a little late..but they made it.

These days....a few inches of snow and the media hypes it right up! And people run around in a panic! Part of "The pussification of America!"

You guys take it easy across the pond......:)

We do seem to inherit some of your weather over here in the UK.... not quite the same scale though thankfully.

Amen to that. One guy said he didn't consider eight inches in two days 'heavy' - that'd bring the whole country to a standstill here!

You've got that right!

Remember walking to school (uphill both ways)?

I never remember being off school for anything less than a REAL storm.

I think everyone is afraid of Mommy and Daddy suing for making "poor Johnny" getting his tootsies cold.

After all, kid's don't go outside much now days, too busy with their "electronics".

This exactly! Last night it crept up to 50 degrees, but before hand we had a terrible bout of freezing rain. This morning at 5am it was a balmy 51 degrees, raining, and all the snow had melted. 24 hours prior the temperature was 4 degrees and we had 6 inches of snow on the ground.

My favorite thing to do is use the weather underground wundermap. It lists personal weather stations from people's back yard. Mine is even on there with a webcam. It is a fun map to play around with and view temperatures.

We are now -11F in South Bend and falling! We got about 18 inches of snow.

Suppose to hit -15F tonite!

Chicago said they set the new all time record low - they are at -16 right now at Ohare Airport.

We'll be there soon enough - again. But today I left at 7:30 am and it was around 50F and pouring rain. Plenty of snow still around though. I think tomorrow is supposed to between 5 and 10F. If the wind does not pickup soon to dry off the pavement there will be plenty of black ice in the AM.

Alabama is so much fun. They delayed school Monday-Wednesday because it's supposed to be in the single digits--and it's been jokingly named The Great Snow Dusting of 2014.

This isn't from the current storm, but definitely an Alabama classic.
