Do any of you brand the machines that you work on? Whether it's the PC itself (magnet/sticker with contact info), or something in the software?

I've been toying with the "OEM Branding" stuff for windows, and I think that with some tweaking, it could be useful, but not a lot of end users are even familiar with finding the system information screen, so I doubt they'd look there when trying to remember who fixed their machine last.

I absolutely would not change the OEM branding on a machine that came into my shop. However for machine I build or refurb then I do. I also use a generic background with our logo.

We have a aluminum sticker (duplicate of our business card) that we stick on a PC. For towers, it goes near the back of the case on either the side or the top; on laptops it goes on the bottom of the case. Other than that, we don't do any other branding of the PC itself.

I considered fiddling with the OEM stuff inside Windoze. But decided it might open up a can of worms. Especially when the machine is a true OEM machine. So I just give them a card.

Yeah, I don't want to mess with the original OEM stuff, but being able to add the 'click here for support' button would be nice.

+1 for a sticker. When we do a custom build we have put a logo in OEM-style, but to be honest a lot of the time we don't bother.

I don't change the OEM Info in System Properties - customers don't really look here so feels like a waste of time to me.
I do however try to put a desktop shortcut to my Ticketing system/remote support URL on the desktop of the pc and those on my RMM i put the System Tray which has links and my contact info in it. It also shows them their IP address, PC Name and WAN IP.

I was thinking of Stickers/Magnets on the outside of box but havent got around to it. My boss does it at my full time job - puts a logo with a support number on it. Id only put a sticker on a PC that i custom built.

I've doing the icon thing for a while but like the taskbar idea. If you don't mind me asking, what are you using to do this?

May I ask where you get these made?

Yup, I use the sticker approach myself.
Just a small 350mm x 250mm sticker either on the front panel of a desktop or on the front bezel of a laptop I have repaired.
It just has the company Logo and phone number which acts as a handy reminder and easy to find lookup for the company / PC repair guy who fixed the machine last time and is on hand should my services be required again.

Sticker here too. Just regular return address label size. I put them on the top rear (sometimes top front) of desktops, and on laptops I put them on both the bottom of the laptop and the power supply brick. I figure with laptops noone looks at the bottom, but they regularly see their power cord.

Many times I've received calls from customers who said they couldn't remember my name and were happy to spot the sticker when they needed me again.

Great idea!! I had a ton of these made up. I'll have to try that out.
