Windows 8 Updating Issues/Upgrading to Windows 10?

So I've looked into AOEMI and a tech license is actually $450. I see that a tech license for EaseUS is $1000. Anyone know of a good low priced or freeware imaging utility? Would Clonezilla be a good solution? It's likely I'll upgrade to EaseUS or Macrium down the road, but I'm an onsite tech and I do a lot of 1099 work so I'm not in a situation where I need to do a lot of image backups like a computer repair shop would.
I just used Clonezilla this morning to image a Win7 computer. I used an external USB drive to save the image to and had no problems. Make sure you get the x686 version as it will cover nearly any imaging that may need to be done.

I am a big promoter of Open Source Software and make an effort to use it when I can.

I realize it's a very old thread, but hope some may find this helpful. I use fsarchiver, a Linux shell (command line) utility that backs up the contents of a filesystem to a compressed archive file. It's in the repository of any Linux distro, and on most any live utility disk, like SystemRescueCD, which is very useful for many disk-related tasks.

Seeing the original issue was updates did you try using something like Windows Offline Updates? I still think a clean Windows 10 install is best but just thinking from a problem solving point of view that perhaps simply running a tool like WOU would have resolved the issue.
