Windows 7 only boots with DVD in tray (RAID-1)

You said it works without the raid right?

I wonder if its a compatibility problem with the controller.

Try building the mirror with windows 7. I think Windows 7 supports software raid doesn't it?

Apparently it doesn't. Client just called me and says she gets the same errors, including a bluescreen. Im gonna take the computer in again and look at the blue screen.

She was able to get inside Windows once and she got "Explorer has stopped working" and after some seconds a bluescreen, other time it comes just as she is starting to boot.

I have suffered the same symptoms with an XP machine. the issue was the boot record was installed on the wrong drive, due to incorrect bios config at time of setup, after removing drive 0 the pc failed to boot unless a windows disk was present and the "press any key" was ignored.

My resolution was to start another installation and install to a different Dir and as soon as it reboots the first time you can now select the original install and forget the installation.

however this wont work with seven, so my suggestion is, to either do an upgrade installation as this will repair the boot record or, attempt to use the system recovery console, I have not used personally in win 7.
