I have a number of residential clients who were using Windows 7 backup on a schedule to minimize the risk of encryption viruses. I would set them up to back up weekly and tell them to keep their external drive disconnected except for when the backup was actually in process. This was a good system, providing both a weekly file backup and an image in case everything went south.
Windows 10's native File History doesn't create an image and wants the drive to be attached at all times. Windows 7 backup is still an option on Windows 10 systems, however I have recently tried to set it up for a scheduled backup on three different client machines and gotten the same error on all three: The system cannot find the file specified. I've searched, found a lot of people with the same error but not found an answer. Anybody else run into this and found an easy solution? Or is Windows 7 backup just DOA on Windows 10?
