Windows 10 sign in M365 account

Is it possible to sign in to windows 10 with an M365 business account? I've got a client who has M365 Business Basic (they already had the offline Office products for all their users and only really wanted it for email and voice). When trying to add a work account for a windows user it says the account doesnt exist and prompts to sign up, i assume this will sign them up to a personal M365 with that same email address which will cause all sorts of confusion. The laptop is running windows 10 pro and currently with a local account. I sold this M365 subscription at the end of last year so i have access to the admin panel should i need to change anything. Is there a certain level of subscription you need to be able to do this?

Ok, it looks like they need to be on business premium not business basic to do that.
It's not needed but they liked the idea so I'll let them know to upgrade if they want that ability.

That is correct, because you cannot use Windows Hello for Business without joining the machine to AAD. And that cannot be done without Azure Online Premium Plan 1. That comes with Microsoft 365 Business Premium, it does not come with any of the lower subs.

Thanks for the help. Am i right in saying Windows 10 Pro is also needed, home cannot use AAD? This is more for future clients in case i get asked again as some business will buy cheaper laptops with Windows 10 home

Microsoft 365 business allows you to upgrade to Win 10 pro.

That is correct, you need the professional or greater edition of the OS to have the ability to join any domain.

Premium has a desktop OS license, it's intended for VDI use. But you can use it to upgrade a system too.

I take it back. You must have Pro. You can upgrade from Windows 7 or 8 Pro to 10 Pro but to come from home to pro you need to purchase the upgrade in the Microsoft store.

I've never actually used it other than for VDIs in Azure. If MS isn't coughing up keys, I fear @nlinecomputers is correct.
