Win 10 System Random Freeze

Got my arch nemesis system here, issue is it freezes can go for days or hours and then suddenly system halts no BSOD just frozen.

I test it here run for hours it works fine, take it back to client a few days later same deal.

I have -

• Ran MemTest 100% Pass
• HDD S.M.A.R.T test all ok
• Drivers updated
• System fans all cleaned and applied new TC
• System hardware heat is minimal as normal
• SFC /Scannow - no violations

Have not swapped gfx cards or psu as yet but dont see how PSU would affect it.

Got me - have it here now stressing the hell out of it to try and reproduce error.

Only other option I can figure is user is corrupted somehow? I ran

Is it an older AMD motherboard?

at least if you swap hard drives and /or substitute a pair of known good RAM sticks, and the problem recurs, you know what the problem likely was NOT related to...

Intermittent freezes can be VERY difficult to narrow down...; one ends up eliminating everything else, and, finally being left with motherboard remaining....

Yea is an older board, HP MS-7778. If it keeps up I did recommended a new pc + data migration to client, they agreed if issue persists. Is very intermittent - so creating an Image now.

I've had freezes and lockups caused by these before.

It doesn't matter - does it at clients and here, so wouldn't be that I would think. It is just a very old cheapo board, have checked capacitors etc.

Otherwise, yeah pointing to the m/board.

No I havnt, Just going to see if there is a BIOS update is none - going to advise new system, always good to upsell

With the other things you've tried, I'd definitely swap out the power supply. It might well be fine on your mains, but not be able to cope with some extra noise at your client's site. PSUs are at least as vulnerable to ageing capacitors as motherboards, maybe more so as they only ever have wet electrolytics.

Yea was going to, but age of system is best to purchase a new system. As only further updates might collapse system back to square 1.No use me charging for x and y when both can be fixed with a new system compatible with Win10 and in future.

last time i saw this, the customer's mains power was below par, about 210V from memory. Everything *seemed* to be working then the fridge kicked in while the printer was running (or something) which dropped the voltage enough to freeze the pc.

Anything in event viewer?

I've got one that is giving me a Driver State Power Failure with a BSD telling me so every once in a great great while. No luck for me in the event viewer and I've set everything everywhere (I think) to full power non-sleep status (drives, ports, etc.).

I've seen a few of these.
Check event viewer as mentioned above.
Look for Kernel-Power Fault ID 41.
After checking power supply/ram, etc.
I've resolved mine by disabling the "save power/sleep features.
Each one was different. Hard drive put to sleep, fast startup, BIOS settings, etc., etc.
It can take a while to find them all.
Stumbled onto it by accident.
I've only seen it on Win 10 machines.
