Win 10 Recovery Media

Had a Win 10 stuck in a "diagnosing your computer" loop today. Turned up with my trusty recovery media on a USB stick to discover an ex Win 7 machine with a BIOS that couldn't boot from a USB. I'm guessing we're going to see a lot more of this that we did with Win 8. Because very few upgraded 7 to 8/8.1 the vast majority of 8/8.1 machines I come across are relatively new. What are others carrying / using for this eventuality? Would something like PloP boot manager work?

Certain! Options for boot order in the BIOS were HDD, CD Drive, Floppy Drive (although machine doesn't have one) and Network!

Often you have to enter BIOS to enable USB storage devices as boot options before it shows up. I've never seen a OEM W7 machine that did not have a boot from USB option somewhere.

Thanks both. Looks like I've missed something then. I'll speak to the customer tomorrow and see if I can have another look. However knowing the customer he has probably already gone elsewhere. Guess I blew it!
