Win 10 Internet but wont browse

Has anyone come across this issue -

Windows 10 HP AIO has a valid IP but wont ping an outside address. This of course fails to load any browsers.

I have been back twice now to client tried this hopefully resolved issue -

• Reset IP Stack and Winsock
• Reset Proxy
• Turned off Auto Driver Updates
• Removed McAfee

I think it may be the network driver is updating - so turned that off.
Saw McAfee as well so removed that crap.

Just curious anyone else had this issue?
Is a wired connection using Realtek driver.

In the Network and Sharing Center is it on "Public" or "Private?"
Sorry I don't have a Win 10 machine here but it's in the same place as Win 7.
I'll bet its been assigned an IP of 168.159. something?
Windows 10 should be on "Private"
If you cant change it try one or both of these reg files:

Windows Registry Editor Version 5.00

Save them as .reg, right click and run as Admin.

Or you could try this as well:
Open CMD as Admin:

reg delete HKCRCLSID{988248f3-a1ad-49bf-9170-676cbbc36ba3} /va /f

Enter

netcfg -v -u dni_dne

Reboot for the change to take affect.

At the risk of stating the obvious, have you checked that there actually is a working connection to the outside world? No problems with the router etc, and other devices can connect OK ?

yup I had something like this, msft kept installing the bad driver, like INSTANTLY on reboot. turn of windows driver installs and Run sdi

Also, old school here, but have you checked the host file? Checked for viruses?

No sorry I did resolve the issue as I said - was just wondering if anyone else had an issue like it recently.

Yeah, happens quite often, for inexplicable reasons.
Sometimes it fixes itself, sometimes a router reboot will do it, or running NetAdapter Repair from WRT makes it "play ball" but other times I've had to resort to my fixes above.

Must be Win 10 driver issue I think - the disable driver update sorted it
, as client is happy Is a HP so what does one expect.

I do get something similar now and then with my crappy Centurylink modem. When I have weird network issues the first thing I do is power cycle the modem and that fixes it every time. But it always seems like a computer issue. In fact, sometimes other computers work fine.

See that a lot too when clients call. They always argue all their other devices "work" and after its done they feel stupid for calling.

Ever wonder why ISP's do that first when you call.
