Wholesale Antivirus... Where do you get yours ?

At the time I signed up, I was a big fan of AVG and really liked their products. But over the last 6 months or so my opinion has changed and I'm looking into other solutions.

I resell ESET because it's the one that I use myself so therefore I have confidence in it. I don't like selling software onto people if I don't think it is up to the job.

With regards to the deal with them, I believe they have different levels depending on how much you are likely to shift.
For smart security I pay just over £30 as opposed to £39.95 on the website and for Nod32 I pay about £23 instead of £29.95. I think you can get a fair bit cheaper than this though if you sell more volume.

A couple of things I like about the Eset reseller program are:

You buy as you go. No need to buy 10+ licenses each time. You can just log in, buy the license and it will email the details to you (and your client if you wish)

You get in-house licenses. Eset give you multiple licenses for in-house use for all of their products.

The other security software I sell with confidence is Malwarebytes. Buy in bulk at well under £10 a license and it's quite easy to sell it back @ £20 (Same as website). Nice easy profit for some genuinely quality software.

Thanks for the information.

I am a Kaspersky partner (I tried for ESET, but never received a response also word that in the USA, they require sales quotas) and buy from anywhere I can get it the cheapest.

Their Partner Program is essentially for selling to business clients at 5+ nodes. Those licenses (OpenSpace security product) you can only purchase through an authorized distributor, in my case D&H. They have an official sale price for your customer, and you can buy them for like $10 cheaper. In addition to spiffs they give you and additional margin for large purchases.

I called ESET 3 times to try to get into their reseller program but never got a call back.

We use MSE. It's free and just as good as any pay AV currently on the market. To be honest, Malwarebytes, Spysweeper, & Combofix are more effective against removing viruses. I have yet to see any AV app block a rogue antivirus from installing.

The relative merits of MSE are up for discussion but one thing isn't - it's free and you don't make any money from it. I've installed it and had the client call back infected in a week so I'm not convinced it's so amazing myself.

I've seen Kaspersky IS stopping many drive by installations of malware including fake AVs. But then it's more than just an AV - it has HIPS and site filtering.

Just tried to get into ESET's reseller program and they require $1500 sales quota per quarter in the USA for their bronze level. A bit much for a smaller shop that primarily sells to home customers.

However, I love ESET so much that I simply purchase licenses at face value for clients and just have them reimburse me. yes, no profit to be made on it but I make up for it on margins on some other products I sell so not the biggest deal.

Fortunately here in the UK Eset don't have a sales quota requirement.

Yup - I just found out myself. I do the same as you do.

I am a ESET reseller in the us. No sales quotas. They have a banner ad program. Customers click a link on my webpage, that goes to Eset. I get a commish. You have to join commission junction, that's all there is to it. Like others, I use it therefore have confidence in it. Not an infection yet on computers with it.

That is the affiliate program which works fine too.

For the vanilla reseller program you indeed need to have a $1500 per quarter sales quota.
I spoke to them yesterday.

I signed up for that banner reseller program but I was looking for more control over purchases like what I had access to at my old employer; they had an ESET partner account and could merely login, enter all info, and get whatever licenses were needed.

If customers are asked to purchase the license, they are more likely than not going to forget. I'd rather have the control to prebuy and load it onto machines before I drop off a system. Less hassle, and I can ensure they are protected.

Will continue just buying licenses for the full amount for now until their lower their quota or I can start selling more.

That's an affiliate program.

Partner programs offer a bit more. Probably a better discount and I know Kaspersky has some program to help my clients pay for large installations and other various things.

In response to MSE, that is find for home-users (I suppose) but I have also seen computers infected with it. I am pretty much a Kaspersky loyalist but I am sure there is a computer out there with Kaspersky installed and viruses.

MSE also doesn't have the central administration and features and such for businesses like Kaspersky and other End-Point security systems have. For example, with Kaspersky, I can disable USB drives and other such things. Pretty nifty.
