Anyone use this? I have just seen it advertised in Costco and wonder if anyone has experience postive or negative with using this card reader.
Most of my work comes in cash and the odd cheque, just wondering if this would be a good option to have.

Thanks

I use IZettle card reader, not sure about the Lite part. It links to my iPhone via Bluetooth and I can take card payments. You pay no monthly fee as it uses the data plan of my phone and you just pay 2.75% per transaction. I did have a problem with my first reader but they quickly sent a replacement

Pretty much the same as Martyn.

I prefer the full fat version as it has a small screen which provides excellent feedback to the customer so they know when to insert the card, asterisks appear as they key in their PIN, tells them to remove the card and most importantly I can tell at a glance if it needs charging.
My wife on the other hand has several times left her PayPal card readers on by mistake and found that they were dead when came time for the customer to pay.

I imagine the Lite IZettle will be similar to the PP reader in functionality.

The iZettle price started out at an introductory £49, doubled and is now back to £49.
It's an expense but worth it in my opinion.
I don't know how much upselling you plan to do but having a card machine is useful when you've got a customer in front of you who has decided to go with that antivirus you just recommended or is holding the flash drive he now understands would be a very good thing to have to back up his photos but only showed up with the exact amount of cash needed to pay for the repair. :)

Any idea how much mobile data it uses?

I am thinking just get it as a business expense... Although may only use one or twice a month to start with. Certainly better than having to trek to the bank with cheques.

Not sure how much of your data plan it uses but it's minimal. I initially got it because cheques were an issue with having to get to the bank. I was probably putting £1500 a month through iZettle. My wife now goes to the bank 3 times a week so it's more cost effective to take cheques.

I use Izettle, the proper one, it is brilliant but I only use it for lower value transactions or when I know getting payment from a customer is a bit tricky (the ones that say they will do a transfer but then take a week to do it). I tend to discourage it if it is for equipment etc, if I am selling a computer it is cash or cheque or they will have to pay the 2.75%. My record was in December when I put £1100 through it and since then I have been discouraging it a bit.

I think I would have to add on a card charge, like some shops do if you use cards. In which case they may not go for it. I am wondering if I am thinking of this as a folly rather than a proper business idea?
