[REQUEST] Which Equipment to Use for Soldering Laptop DC Jacks?

In the past I have always used a bog standerd soldering iron (don't get a cheep one it makes life hard work if it will not get hot enought) Most power sockets I have had to replace in the last 12 months (10-15) have all been on a cable, so no soldering required.

Any electrical solder, and preferably rosin core, should be just fine provided it's a fine enough gauge to melt quickly and not get you a much larger solder blob than you want.

See the topic,
Soldering Iron Purchase,
which was recently revived for a lengthy discussion on soldering iron/soldering station selection.
