Whats the coolest computer case you have seen?

I always thought the DOOM case was pretty sweet.. the amount of work that went into it was crazy..

I built one of those. It's still running in my office after 2 or 3 years, and I haven't changed the oil. I went a step or two further. I stripped the cover off the power supply and put some aquarium toys in it. Great conversation piece. Everyone asks, "Where are the fish?" lol

It stays pretty cool. I haven't measured it in some time. It's an old Sempron. The last time I measured was probably a year ago. The machine was powered on for 48 hours straight and had been used all day for work; temp was 51 c. This system is not meant to be very cold. If you try putting high-temp devices such as gaming cards or want to overclock, you'll need a pump and radiator attached to it. For a regular desktop, no worries. I started out with an airstone for circulation, but the bubbles did not look so cool. So, now I just have the little skeleton guy at the bottom. He lets out air from the pump about every 20 seconds. It provides a little circulation, but it's not really necessary.

I bought the aquarium from PetCo, the mobo mount I can't remember. I bought some small pieces of plexiglass from a local hardware store. I cut that down to sit on top of the aquarium and cut it out so the motherboard would feed through just like the back of a chassis. The mineral oil proved to be a bit tricky. I first went to the local horse doctor (they use it in gallons for horse laxative), but he wanted $18/gallon. Eventually, I wound up cleaning out 3 area WalMart stores. It's just over $1/pint. You should have seen the faces of their employees when I went in and asked for all the "natural laxative" (it's more fun to ask for than 'mineral oil') they had in the store. The system uses (I think; remember it's been a while) about 4 1/2 gallons of oil.
 
The mobo is in the oil mounted to a tray, but it's positioned so the ports are not submerged. It won't hurt to submerge them, but you'll wind up creating a wicking effect and have oil all over the desk. The HDD is mounted above the oil as well on a custom mount I built. Pretty easy. It's a fun project. I did mine with an old PC I had so that I wouldn't cry if I killed it.

And the aquarium: I can't find anymore. However, most 5-gallon and above tanks will work. The reason I, and Puget Systems (where I got the idea), like the Eclipse 6 is for the hood. It's the perfect place to hide cables and your HDD. But other systems will work. If you're pretty handy, you could even do an ITX system in a smaller tank. You'd have to fabricate a tray, though.

Edit: The entire build for me ran about $150 with all the toys, etc.

I have seen these, and even muttered to myself that it would be cool to do that. But now, well this is what I am going to do. I can't imagine any of my sons friends have seen anything close to this unique, and it will definitely generate the wow factor. I might add some lighting and definitely some aquarium toys. And I just now thought of a way I might be able to split the tank into two compartments, with a freshwater aquarium in front and the mobo section behind. Then put a couple goldfish in the front part so it looks like the fish are swimming with the computer. Nice! Can't wait to get started.

Yeah. I saw that one and really thought about it for a minute, but my ability to mod stuff like that is pretty limited. The base is what looks the most difficult, I assume the optical drive is hidden in there somewhere. Course, given the smashed nature of the build, I don't suppose a 'hanging' drive would be a bad idea.
