What remote access software would be good for a small/new IT support company?

The thing I didnt like about Crossloop was that the site is promotional for everyone who uses it that does remote repairs. Its like saying to customers, "you can get anyone here to do this for you". The software worked fine for me I just didnt like the fact that it brings customers that I have paid to attract, to other service providers
Similar feel. A customer can download 'my software' from my profile page there but it's not branded until after they've connected. So, if they download from my profile but end up connecting with someone else, it's the other tech's branding they'll see. More than a little counter-intuitive, IMO.
I can't take the same software and give it to my customers because, once they start it up, it's not 'mine' but Crossloop's, even though I've paid CL to brand it.

I won't be renewing.

I use SimpleHelp, Bomgar and various Implementations of VNC and would give SimpleHelp high marks for a number of reasons:

1. Low Cost to Ownership.
2. Responsive Developers / Support
3. Features coming on-line with more advanced /expensive packages.
4. Easy Setup.

I use the SimpleGateway feature to have a permanent connection to get back for unattended support. They have also just come out with a feature for starting a support session from a standalone executable similar to Bomgar's Button.

That said, I just purchased more licenses for Bomgar. Expensive, but it's a faster connection, especially if you have clients who are... er... less than skilled. ;-)

Best of luck with your decision,
Scott

I see your point. Not a perfect tool for generating new business. For me it works because my customers know me. I put crossloop in their shared/public folder already installed. When they need something I can look to determine if I need to go onsite or not.

When a customer calls I tell them how to find the shortcut I put on their machine. On the opening register screen I have them skip and they are then presented with the user screen. Have them select share and read me the number. We then connect. I can transfer files, log back in after a reboot. All for 70 a year. Except for the ability to log back in I can do all of the above with the free version.

One last perk is for a fee they will collect the money as well provide a bill for the work. I have not used the billing service, but it is there.

I have used

Well in my opinion I used

showmypc couple of times.. is easy to install and works great.

but tried logmeinfree and the quality is better,,, works better and faster with the same computers and connection.

Was hesitant because basically i am starting in this business but saw someone said that it could support 50 pcs or 25.. so i guess that is good for now and then maybe check another options...

I've used www.showmypc.com, but it keeps disconnecting at random times, apparently this has something to do with UAC and Windows Vista/7 but its not good for that reason.

I'd love to jump to logmein.com, but the free version is a pain with regard to the install, getting a user to install process is a pain in the butt for remote users who don't have know how or necessarily trust you.

I'm still hunting for the "right" solution, preferably free :D
