If you own a shop, what do you have on in the backroom to get you jamming? If you don't have a shop, what do you have your MP3 player or computer playing to get you pumped?

Nice choices Cambridge and Adam.

Just recently got back into Queens of the Stone Age, so that's been blasting lately in the home office I work from. Otherwise, a lot of rock, alternative and classic rock.

In my shop we generally have National Public Radio on. They play a lot of classical during the day and we keep the volume low. It's customer friendly and makes it so that it's not completely silent. I've tried listening to podcasts or other tunes I'd normally listen to, but find that I can't focus on the job I'm doing because I'm focused on what's playing.

No shop, well the workshop. I have either the radio on in the background, or a selection of music. Anything from bon jovi, the boss, meatloaf, queen, dire straits.. Light rock I would say is my fav.

We usually whack-on a local radio station in our shop; music in a shop is always good. If I'm at home doing a repair I might put on a Podnutz podcast, as those are usually pretty good.

I rarely listen to music when I work but if I buy a new amp for my HIFI I may end up with a spare one I can put in my workshop.

If I do listen to music though its anything from classic rock, punk, indie and folk. Can be rocking out to Rainbow and the Vaccines and Nirvana the next minute.

In the car when driving to jobs (about an hour a day in total) I listen to mainly Rock FM (Now called Real Radio XS) and XFM. Real Radio is mostly classic rock, grunge and bit of punk and indie, where as XFM is mostly indie with a bit grunge mixed in. Living in Manchester I am lucky we get a choice of alternative music stations. Also sometimes listen to Radio 2 for certain programmes. I don't get Radio 1, far too of a mixture of genres for me as I really really dislike urban/rnb music of any kind.

I listen to peace and quiet in the workshop - I can't concentrate when there is music / radio on.

In the car going to jobs I have Radio 2 chuntering in the background ( as long as its not Jeremy Vine ).

If I'm doing relatively boring stuff then I listen to Radio 4, Radio 4 Extra, a scientific podcast or some comedy or drama from BBC radio Iplayer. I love my house and electronica but much prefer to learn or laugh

I have trouble concentrating WITHOUT something in the background. For me it is usually a podcast of "Clark Howard", or my own personal collection of music. Everything from Vivaldi and Mozart to Metallica and Danzig. My current favorite category would probably be 50's and 60's "Rock and Roll". I refuse to listen to radio because of annoying DJ's and commercials, as well as not being able to choose what is played.

It is interesting to see the mix of tastes within the Technibble crowd.

I work in Home/Office and I love music, I have a collection of 25,000 mp3's on my pc, 6676 Artists in 22 Genre's, I love Northern Soul (5000 tracks) and that is what I listen to 70% of the time, I love Disco, Blues, R&B, General Soul and Ska, I love other stuff too, they just get less airplay.
