What are your pursuits outside of technology?

Ok, here we go...

And apart from holding down a full time job, trying to stay married, raise two kids and run this business part-time...

I race cars whenever the time and budget permits, mostly this kinda stuff http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=cY4UnuZcUIo, and

I'm club secretary for my kids football club, and coach of the U-14team, and

I breed Dobermanns, or should that be Dobermenn!

Oh yeah, I'm currently studying in final year of Info Systems Mgt degree - exams next week, so supposed to be studying!:D

1st of all congratulations of all the stuff Obtech manages to do.
Now back to me:
1. trying to put a little money on the side for buying a car.
2. trying to stay committed to a girl and not cheating on her.
3. Also try to go once a week with some friends to play some quality football and stay a little in shape .

Seriously I no longer have any hobbies or have any social time. I occasionally take the dog out for a walk when it's raining (wife won't), and I take her ladyship shopping occasionally (not relaxing) but there isn't anything I do for recreation, or to relax. Things are definitely going to have to change this year.

It certainly is hard Mike, I know that one so much mate. But there comes a time, when you will find yourself starting to burn out. Then you will not be any good to yourself, your wife, family, or your business.

Never mind this year mate, get things in order sooner rather than later. This comes from someone, who was on the verge of a breakdown a few years ago. So please trust me mate, when I say the above. Take stock, and do it quickly!.

Take the time out to do recreational things, if you have no hobbies, then find some.

I was really into freestyle motocross but after my last bike was destroyed in a crash I haven't gotten back into it. now of days I spend time with family and play the stock market that about it

Take the plunge Mike full time, you know it makes sense. :)

You are absolutley right Nige, I have nearly finished arranging my Remote Support side which I am hoping it's going to ease things for me. I always liked been out in the Garden so I suspect that is what I am going to do. I like being outside in the fresh air getting my hands dirty.

We'll see, I need to move house first to a nicer area. I will then re-evaluate this as I would love to work for myself.

And that's just from blowing the dust from dirty cases lol.

Seriously go for it Mike. It is the best thing I have ever done. At the end of the day, I feel like I have really accomplished something, and it is a great feeling. Earning money for me and my family, rather than someone else, or a large corporation.

No Neo-Geo in your collection? :( I have a couple games but I have yet to buy a system.

As for me, the current non-technology craze is softball. Technology craze is, as if I don't program enough at work, trying to develop my first graphical game. I've been wanting to do that for years.

Sadly no, I was smarter than that and knew that the batteries would cost a fortune. My mother made me pay for my own batteries when I was a kid and I remember the few people with a Neo-Geo or Gamegear always complained about the batteries, so I wanted a gameboy. Besides, the others didn't have pokemon so I wasn't interested at the time.

What games for the Neo-Geo do you have?

After working about 60 70 hrs a week, me and the kids like to do some off roading.

But I am also a professional photographer and I spend a hand full of Saturdays in the summer photographing weddings.

I've been a weightlifter for the last more than 20 years. Mostly 4-5 days a week, 2-3 hours a night. I haven't considered it leisure since I've been doing it for so long. More like part of my daily routine like going to work. Sometimes its been like a ball and chain. Especially after a long day in the shop where I'd like nothing better than to go home but instead need to tack on another 2-3 hours to my day sometimes straining my guts out. For the longest time it has been like going to a second job after leaving the shop. Sometimes I actually wonder what my life had been like if I had not spent all those hours of my life in the gym? There are others like me out there who I've affectionately coined the term "gym rats" that I've gotten to know and have known for years just through going to the gym. I've recently separated from my training partner who I've been training with for 16 years. Really no specific reason. Goals had changed over the years. The place I had been training at with him has for a while been rather inconvenient for me since I moved out of that area over 2 years ago. Also the hours and equipment have been sub par for years. I made a big decision and joined a place closer to me with better equipment and better hours. It was a little scary at first because I had been at the other place for so long. So many people I'd seen daily for so many years. Almost felt like I was betraying a few people, but in the end I can't inconvenience myself for no better reason than to make others feel more comfortable. But it has been a very good decision and it has somewhat revitalized my commitment to weight training.

Wow. You write that down more like a task than a joy. My current wife ("2 of 3") is great .

I do the typical Wisconsin stuff. Motorcycling, Four-wheeling, Snowmobiling, fishing. When I start getting really burnt out I will go as far away from technology as possible.

I work full time as a law enforcement officer that specializes in maintenance of breath alcohol testing machines and associated video recording equipment. This deals with the hardware and software of both devices.
When I am not working, I enjoy spending time with kids and wife. I also working on completing my MBA in information systems.
And when I am not doing those things, I strap my rear end to an airplane and go flying. My grandfather owns two airplanes, so I am finishing up my pilot certification. Therefore, I won't have to deal with airline travel anymore.

Yep, Coco, I'm in the red one that ploughs through the bank.

Took 1st in class that day...in spite of barrell-rolling it on the last run - Not on camera unfortunately!

Busted my engine when it landed on the hood!

Forgot to mention, I rebuild engines too!!!!!!:D

I didn't mean Neo-Geo pocket. I meant the actual console. I have Mark of the Wolves and Metal Slug 3 but it's for an MVS (the arcade system). So I'm gonna have to get one of those converters for the home system or buy a whole arcade cabinet :D

Living in Colorado makes for a lot of fun things to do...I have found way more hobbies out here then when I lived in the Midwest:

1. Bicycling - usually no more then 15-20 miles at a time
2. Tennis
3. Chess (took it up about 8 months ago, been going to a club for 1 month)
4. Shooting - just blew up a 1lb propane tank at 35yds with my 9mm today (first shot) -- SO MUCH FUN!!!
5. Brewery hopping -- we have 7 local breweries in town now!
