Weird safeboot thing

I had a Vista client with that profile error where you have to go into the registry to fix it. All the other times I just went into safemode and logged in got into regedit and fixed it. This time safemode brought me right back to the user login and the same problem. No big deal I just used my KRD to get into the registry, but any ideas what may have caused that problem and any suggested fixes or workarounds in the future?

Thanks,

Rick

even safemode with command prompt did that? I mean i've heard of the possibility of it happening even with safemode with command prompt but i havent actually seen it.

I couldnt even begin to tell you how or why it happened. But could you not backup the users profile and or the registry since this is an ongoing problem?

Another thought would be to upgrade them to win 7 pro instead of vista.

I didn't try safe mode command prompt thanks for the reminder. Just safemode, but I'd never even had that happen before.

Ive seen it happen in safe mode before..I think it was less than 30 days ago I had a customer i had to walk through typing in the commands to create another user and set as admin through safe mode with command prompt.

There's an old virus removal trick where you go into safe mode with command prompt since it's less likely to be blocked by the ransomeware, then type explorer into the DOS box. Would that trick have been useful for your end user client?
