Hey All,

I just registered about a week ago and I've been working on my business website for about the same time. I get my business cards on Wednesday, but before I go live I wanted to get everyone's opinion.

The website is: www.cheerfultech.com

Thanks again all!

Looks Great

I just glanced at the site and didn't really have time to read everything but my first impression is that it looks great. I like the "cheerful" theme you have going on. There are a lot of great techs out there that have horrible attitudes (Nick Burns Syndrome) and I think many people hate dealing with computer techs because of that reason.

Thanks for the compliments so far! It's nice to know the site doesn't look like a three year old made it. By the way, I took some tips from your site Nextora on SEO, I hope you don't mind. I love your design too. Looks great. :) Thanks solas!

I actually remember watching that as a kid growing up, and thats exactly the type of person I imagined when I created the site.

I remember the last time I was in Best Buy (I was asking one of the techs how much they charge for their services, I like to collect intel) and there was a customer getting his computer serviced by the geek squad. One tech had no idea how to unscrew the plug in back of the monitor, and the other kept telling him its "left loosey, righty tighty", and then making fun of the other one for not knowing that. The customer looked up, and said to me "Shouldn't the techs know how to unscrew this kinda stuff?" We both laughed. If only I had the site and a business card to give him, I would have been able to pick em up at a potential client.

Love how the pages scroll.. that's sweet. My only concern is that you may have a heck of a time getting the search engines to query your site with the /# being your only URL. I could be wrong, and in fact if you're after mostly local clients it may not matter much anyway.

Anyway, looks nice!

No problem. We just started SEO on my site about a month ago and we are already seeing great results on MSN, but nothing special on Google or Yahoo, yet. After looking at your site again I have a suggestion. I think the menu should go towards the top of the page. I think it looks fine where it is but I think people are used to seeing a menu towards the top of the page, it is more "traditional". It looks like you have a natural eye for creating web sites you might also want to offer that as a service. I do not, so I partnered with a graphic design company that I pass business to and they created nextora.com.

PS. My Co-Owner also served in the Navy on the USS Dubuque as a system administrator from about 2000-2003.

Meta tags report for: http://www.cheerfultech.com/

Title:
This tag contains too many characters.
This tag contains 135 characters. This is too many for what we would consider a 'robot friendly' web page. The maximum number of characters we recommend for this tag is 80.
Description: Found no description meta tag.
The description meta tag is used by most of the search engines. Consider to add a description meta tag.
Keywords:
Found no keywords meta tag.
The keyword meta tag is still used by many search engines. Consider to add a keyword meta tag.
Robots:
Found no robots meta tag.
This tag is not really required but helps spiders to index the web page.
Author: Found no author meta tag.
This tag is not really required but helps for your (company) name recognizing.

oh dear...

This same idea came to mind when I was thinking of starting a computer business. I started to look around at what the competition had to offer, particularly Best Buy. Their very own technicians are grumpy, and hate to service people. They could care less if the individual is happy at the end or not, just as long as they get their money. I hated this idea, and that’s what sparked cheerfultech.

This quote from your site could cause you some legal problems. I would not name Best Buy and bad mouth them on your site. You could end up with a big defamation suit.

Your copyright seems like something is wrong. I think that you need the year, and the name seems to be incorrect. Other than that, I like the site.

Besides the SEO part that has been mentioned you can put some "image tags" on the pics, maybe also a contact form. I like the way the site scrolls also, but I actually missed that there were things under the "prev"/"next" part. If I did not scroll down I would of missed it completely. Maybe that is not an issue not sure.

Nice mix of approachable/friendly vs professional. I also like the page scroll feature. One thing I would change is your list of services has virus/malware listed three times. To customers they are all the same. Also some of the words in that list are more tech friendly than customer friendly. Overall a very nice site. :)

Hi BioSpark,

See this is exactly what I am talking about. People are just more used to seeing a menu towards the top of the page. We are all creatures of habit, and we're just not used to looking down for a menu.

Alright, I'll have to look at the code.. I may condense the text on each scroller page, and just have the information on a different page. That'll shrink down the scroller box, therefore allowing people to see below. Thats for the tips guys, and thanks again Nex, I've put a lot of your ideas in to play. :)

That would be good especially if someone can see that something is under the "previous/next" buttons...If so I like that.

Title: Title meta tag contains no errors.
This tag contains 54 characters.
Title relevancy to page content is excellent.
The Title relevancy to page content is 100%.
Description: This tag contains too many characters.
This tag contains 344 characters. This is too many for what we would consider a 'robot friendly' web page. The maximum number of characters we recommend for this tag is 250.
Keywords: Keyword relevancy to page content is very poor. However, this is not necessarily bad if you have a lot of content. The most important factor is to have your keywords on the page a few times.
The keywords relevancy to page content is 50%.
Robots: The Robots meta tag contains no errors.
This tag contains 9 characters.

I figure your half way there when it comes to SEO lol..

If you want a tip:

'Port Angeles' is a keyword you use 6 times in your meta-tags. Robots hate spam. You could easily fix this by using some commas. eg:

Port Angeles Sequim Silverdale Washington Computer Repair PC Port Angeles Sequim Silverdale Washington Computer Service Port Angeles Sequim Silverdale Washington Computer Services,

could be:

Washington Computer, PC Repair Port Angeles, Computer Service Port Angeles, Silverdale Computer Services,

though it seems some of these words/phrases are already in your description (which are also meta-tags). If thats the case - delete the duplications from your description, (which will kill 2 birds with one stone).

The website looks great, how are you designing it? Hand coded or using a program.

Also I like your ethos on being 'cheerful', it's really somthing that people (mostly, theres some grumpy bar stewards out there!) want.

Great stuff, I think you'll do well.
