Ive done a lot of research on SEO for my website but I've come across a little problem on keywords. From most of the research I've done and programs I've used i was told to use longer keyword so they're is less competition for instance "computer repair houston tx" but after looking at other small local computer repair websites that are higher ranked I've noticed they use keywords like "computer, repair, houston, tx". Can anyone tell me which is a better route so if needed i can fix these issues asap???

Hey totalPCTechs,

I'm new to the SEO game myself. I keep seeing it as compound keywords to get the most targeted and relevant audience. Things like "computer repair, houston tx, LCD repair". Google states that this is the preffered method, and that overloading your keywords can be detrimental. Put Keywords in page titles nested in <h1> and BOLD. The spyder picks it up as more important.

Google also looks at your keywords VS. content. Relevant content will yield the best result at having your keywords WORK.

I'm still waiting for google to pick up my new website at http://www.AaronsPCSupport.com. I put up a BUNCH of content and have listed my business all over the web. So far google has moved me up like 3 pages because of Tech Nibble (Thanks - and I just got a business kit too!) and the additional web listings. Google hasn't even indexed my 16 pages of new content :( yet, so I'm waiting for that.

Hope this helps!

From what I have heard, a combination of long and short-tail keywords is the way to go. AFAIK just building long tail keywords may limit the specific searches you are optimising for.

as far as fixing asap, I think any link building strategy will take a bit of time. If you're looking at SERP, be prepared to settle in for the longer haul to get up there.

In the process, dont forget your google places page. It may get you results a lot quicker than outright SERP

Im no expert though, this is just how I understand it. check out warriorforum or backlinksforum for more info.

I can give all you guys a free SEO report with some proper keyword anaylsis for free if you like. Just send me your site and local cities in your area in a PM. I can usually get local tech sites first page pretty fast and easy. It is not the hardest work, but you definently have to be creative and it is a daily task.
