I know a lot of people here fiddle with their websites and some really aren't happy with the ones they have. Being that most of us aren't competitors at a local level I was wondering if there was anyone else that would be interested in creating a website template that could be used on each members websites.

Each member would be responsible for doing the final customization of their final website but the designing, pictures and coding would be taken care of. You would just be responsible for creating logos of the proper size and descriptions of services.

We would come up with a design together and then find a programmer to do the coding.

If there is any interest LMK.

Collaboration ideas sound good, but often dont work in reality. People will sign on, but what happens is everyone wants the final product, but noone is willing to put in the work.
I see it happen all the time.

If you are willing to put in the work, you could just create/or-get-created a template and sell it to other techs "Ultimate Tech Site/Tech Site Builder" style. Or, if dont want to put up the work but rather put up the money, just buy one of those complete solutions.

If you are serious about a Collaboration, put up a plan. Whos going to actually code it? What can YOU contribute to the WORK side of it ("Idea people" only dont really work in fair collaborations) and what do you NEED from others? If you are going to get a developer to do it, whos going to put up money?
Who gets ultimate decision in a decision deadlock?

Coding is no doubt the simplest part of development of a website. You need to develop your content to separate you from others.

If you want to rank then you need to spend time developing some understanding of your business, your customers, your key words they might use to find you and then develop the content that will bring them to you you in a google search, youtube search and so on.

You can already by complete tech templates for less than an hours billings and then cut and past your graphic and content. These templates are better than most of us could do.

PM me if you want more specific information.
Alternatively you can go to a site that uses a wysiwyg editor and create your site in an Office like environment.

Obviously I am a big fan of any new type of venture and think there are probably tons out there that can be done and be very successful.

But, like others have said there are products that you are talking about out there already such as:

Jim's....The Ultimate Website Kit theultimatetechsite.com
Steve's...Tech Site Builder 2 techsitebuilder.com

So you'd really have to find people that are interested and then have them already look at say those 2 products and see "what can we do better"..Plus, then you are looking at having to support it from the stand point of updates to support for the product especially if you offer/sell it to other business owners.

I think in order to provide better support than I see Jim offering in the past would be a tall feat..

Like I said all about ventures and collaboration but really need to look at the "big" picture and what the end result could be.

A quick search brought up these as well.

I have been tempted a number of times to check out Jims The Ultimate Website Kit. The only thing I really would like to see is some actual finished sites that are live and functional.

the type of projects that I do see as valuable are ones like this: http://www.technibble.com/forums/showthread.php?t=44524

I think as a community we could come up with a number of ideas that could be used as add-ons to websites.

A tool like Speccy would be an example of something that would be helpful if the customer could run that directly from the site and it would add all the information to there contact for they send. This way we have their PC specs and have a place to start when talking with them for the first time.

i belive Bryce was extremelly down to earth and focused on reallity :( unfortunnatly he pointed out the cold reality
