Hey guys,

I have a client that likes to do live recordings of their services for their church. They would need a webcam that can have a view-able distance of up to 30ft and I'm having a hard time finding something with that type of resolution.

Any recommendations on something that could perform this?

Most webcams I've come across and looked into seem to be focused for meetings or up close video.

Any input is greatly appreciated!

Oh yea this is not a job for a webcam. You could use an IP camera, or even better a camcorder. Just going to depend on what exactly they are doing. It sounds like they are wanting to do live and are not currently streaming?

Is someone going to be operating the camera to be able to zoom in at times? Or just a fixed point no change?

Are they going to go all out and pipe out audio from their mixer into the stream?

Are they signed up with a streaming service?

Do they have software like Open Broadcaster?

I've used the Logitech PTZ Pro for a client. Setup in a hall maybe 50' x 25' in size. Gets a great picture and very easy to use with the remote control for zoom, pan, tilt etc. It comes with a bracket for wall mounting.

Paired it with one of these microphone arrays which works surprisingly well for the price (similar products from Polytechnic, Clearone etc are $1,000 +) https://www.acousticmagic.com/products/voice-tracker-ii-details/

But if crystal clear audio is a priority you need to be getting individual Lavalier microphones for each speaker.

Downside - it's not PoE so you're gunna need a power socket near it. Also, it connects via USB so your PC better be reasonably near it too.

They will need to be careful with music. If songs not in the public domain are performed during the service, they are going to need a license. Here is a good overview of the rules for the states. As the IT guy, you're not the policeman, but you should alert them to the rules.
