Sorry to drag up this thread but i've got a very similar scenario here - only no noticeable damage to the board.

I haven't initialised the drive thankfully, but would like to know more about whether I can simply buy a donor board with the same chip? Would anything need to be transplanted over? I.e is anything unique to this one drive? Seems pretty pointless being encrypted if the chips aren't linked.

I would start a new thread. If your USB port isn't damaged, it's not a similar scenario to OP.
