What VM application do you use? Are there free versions of VM applications or are they all paid subscriptions? I thought VMWare offered workstation for free but haven't been able to find it.

VMWare Server does what you want, and is available for free. You can create virtual machines or run virtual machines remotely. I tried to post the link, but this is my first post.

Go to the VMWare site, look for Products, VMWare Server and download from there. I use the VMWare server daily.

Thank you for the reply Pedernales. I knew VMWare had a free version of their software. If anyone is interested, this is the link to VMWare Server (Free)

I've used VMWare for setting up a test virtual network and testing things out. But never used VMWare in a real world scenario. I'd definitely like to see a white paper or study done on when to use VMWare exclusively, hardware, software, etc.

I am actually about to setup a small test network for VMWare Infrastructure 3, and VMWare Virtual Center 2. I am going to setup 4 ESX boxes and a Virtual Center control box as well so I can test it enough to decide if we will actually use it here at our offices going forward.
