I'd think most people in this industry have ran into this at some point or another.

What's the downsides?
Obviously having admin rights means there is more they can mess up.

What's a solution to it?
How can anyone answer this? Is it your computer? Is it their computer and they are asking for admin rights on their own computer? If it's the later then who are you to say no?

Maybe you should clarify the question a bit more so you can get an answer that goes with your situation.
