USB disconnecting every few seconds

I have an annoying problem where the mouse disconnects and reconnects every few seconds.
The mouse freezes, you here the familiar "tink-tonk" of Windows that you normally hear when you connect a USB peripheral device, then it works normally for the next 5~8 seconds.
Any other USB peripheral works perfectly either with or without the mouse plugged in.

MSI B360 Mortar Mobo
Intel i7 8700
nVidia Geforce 1050Ti graphics
32GB generic ram
1TB M.2 + 4TB SATA HDD
Win 10 Pro 1903 build 18326.239

What I've tried:
6 different mice - wireless and wired - plugged into every USB port - USB 2.0 and 3.0
Disconnect keyboard and leave out for testing.
Disconnect all other USB devices.
System Restore point to when it wasn't doing it
Uninstalled/reinstalled mouse drivers.
Turned off "Allow the computer to turn off this device to save power"
Turned off "Allow this device to wake the computer"
Also disabled above Power Management options on all USB Root Hubs and all entries under "Mice and other pointing devices"
Uninstalled reinstalled USB 3.0 drivers that came with the motherboard
Tried updated USB 3.0 driver from MSI website.
Updated all other available drivers including chipset from MSI website.
Updated BIOS to latest available.
Ran SDIO and chose several different drivers - none fixed the problem - most made it worse.
Check Alerts and logs
Googled the problem and tried various fixes (like the ones above)
Contacted a priest who threw Holy Water at it and mumbled in Latin for several minutes.
(Ok, the last one is BS and wishful thinking, but I'm frustrated)

Any help appreciated.
TIA

maybe try USBoblivion. Have used it before with good results

https://sourceforge.net/projects/usboblivion/
This utility designed to erase all traces of USB-connected drives and CD-ROMs from the registry in Windows 2000, XP, 2003, Vista, 7, 2008, 8, 8.1, 2012, 10 32/64-bit versions. The utility has a test mode of operation, i.e. without actually removing data from the registry, and, just in case, creates a .reg-file to undo any changes. There is also a fully automatic mode.

@Barcelona "Contacted a priest who threw Holy Water at it and mumbled in Latin for several minutes." man these are the reasons why I love this forum so much (Was absent for a while did something stupid ended up with a injury) but on a serious note do you have a live cd linux or what not to see if the issue persists with another OS boot to see if it's not a hardware problem. I myself ordered a usb voltage tester something like this https://www.walmart.ca/en/ip/Unique...oltage-Current-Meter-Blue-New/PRD7AXPI6L1ZH36 good luck with the resolving also on a final note have you tried safe mode?

Thanks for the suggestions I should have tried those already but the priest spooked me and i didnt want to go near it.
I'll try them tomorrow and report.
Thank you

Thanks @mraikes nothing at all in the System log that even remotely looks like anything to do with USB.
Would have been good if there was so i at least had a starting point.

What @timeshifter and @Larry Sabo said, also, in your list one thing you did not mention is "tried another USB port". Ports do go bad. I have a 4 brand new MOBO's on my shelf that have bad USB ports on the back and a couple with bad USB headers that are waiting for an RMA. Worked fine for a while, but then all of a sudden, broke!

Weird that other peripherals work, and only mice exhibit symptom. I think I would try something that definitely takes more voltage to run, like an external spinning 2.5" drive, it sounds like it might be a voltage issue...which could be supported by a similar failure in linux, as suggested by others.

You might have to resort to Voodoo.

If the results are the same under Linux... then it's likely a bonked port. Is there more play in that port vs the others? I've had that on a dock that was really causing issues.

Hi Rob, yes i actually did do that and also mentioned it in my post. ;):D

No the PC is relatively new and ports have remained unused or only had one deice plugged in continually.
No looseness in the ports.

I have a client experiencing something along the same lines. They have a Win 10 pc setup out in the middle of a room so have a hub running keyboard & mouse, plus occasional flash drive etc. They have tried 3 different hubs (2 powered) 3 different USB cables, driver updates, all 5 onboard USB ports. It will run fine for days, then other days the keyboard will hang, then spit out multiples of the sale letter/number etc. The mouse will also freeze.

I plan to check for BIOS updates when I connect again but wondered what else to try. I will, of course, mention any offerings to be made/smoke signals.

Update:
I tried fiddling about with USB settings in the BIOS re XHCI/Legacy etc, ran USB Oblivion, sacrificed a goat etc: nothing

So after much hair pulling, (and complaints from the neighbours about the fires and chanting at midnight) I decided to fabs, the thing and reinstall Windows from scratch.

Success?

It was fine for an hour....

So after ordering another goat I decided it must be a motherboard issue and was about to order another mobo.
While I contemplated what mobo to get, I rounded up every wired and wireless mouse i could find and proceeded to plug them in to every port, in the vain hope that one would work to at least appease an angry client till the new Mobo arrived.
I had a Logitech M185 new in the shrink wrap so i opened it and plugged it in...
Almost 3 weeks now without issue...

It's important to remember that no other devices had any issues with disconnects; not keyboards, ext HDD's, USB dongles, thumbdrives, etc; only mice.

I also had a USB booklight plugged into the ports. When the mouse disconnected the booklight stayed on.
Not sure how relevant that is but its interesting.

So....anyone want a slightly nervous black and white goat?
