Solution: disabled touchscreen via Device Manager.

-------------
Toshiba laptop with touch screen has issue with the left side receiving input without being touched. So, when moving the cursor via a mouse or the touchpad, the cursor will usually, but not always go to that spot that's receiving input from something. What to do? Advised customer on how to use the computer as a desktop to bypass the issue.

Had ghost touching before on a laptop, would go away depending on screen position, disabling touchscreen fixed it but not sure you want to do that

It’s from a dead manufacturer. You might find a used screen/digitizer out there but it’s a dead laptop walking. A refurbished laptop is the best option for money conscious clients.

This is what I always do after talking with the client about options if they don't opt for screen replacement. A very great many of my clients over the years did not use the touch screen feature on their laptops with it anyway. Even though I'm not "my customer" I virtually never use the touch screen on the laptop I'm typing from.

I prefer, being in a mixed hardware environment, to stick with what works everywhere. I also find touch screens to be a major annoyance in any situation where there is a lot of literal finger pointing to things on the screen which almost invariably end up in touches and the actions from same that no one wanted, even if the action is simple to undo, like a scroll.

And this is one of the things that can be disabled that stays that way.

Client disabled the touchscreen via Device Manager and it worked.

He was so happy that he came to my house unexpectedly and gave me a $40 tip!
