I have a client that has a Toshiba. It will boot up to windows and about 3 or 4 minutes later the screen will fade to white. If I wiggle the monitor slightly the screen will come back. I have hooked it up to an external monitor and it works. My question is it the screen or the cable? I would say it’s the cable but when I see a bad cable it is when the screen moves it flickers. When this screen moves no flicker. Plus when it goes white a minute later it goes black and you have to press the power button to get it back on and it is at the login screen even on the monitor. (yes I did check the power and screensaver) That is why I think it might be the screen. Any ideas? Thanks.

What do mean by wiggle the monitor? Just going back and forth with it (opening/closing) or flexing it side to side? Something else...

I will also push in around the hinge areas with my finger. If it's the cable this will usually cause it to go squirrely if they are damaged around the hinge.
Have you opened it up and re-seated the cable?
I've had a few where the cable just wasn't seated very well anymore.

Most likely the screen though.
Try a flashlight test when it goes black? Shine light right against the screen and if it's just the back light, you will barely see what should be there (desktop/login/whatever).

it seems to go to sleep. i hit it with a flashlight. just black. Even the external monitor goes to sleep.

Have you checked it out with an external monitor.
Maybe your "wiggle" is moving something else.
Nothing worse than buying a new screen only to find out it was something on the motherboard.
