Ok, this one is throwing me for a loop. Its a Toshiba Satellite L305-S5955 running Vista Home Basic x86. When it boots up, it gets to the Vista screen with the bar running along the bottom. It doesn't freeze up or reboot, just continues to attempt to load at that point forever. It will boot into safe mode. I've tried the Vista Recovery disc and ran startup repair, I've fixed the MBR, I've done a system restore to an earlier date, and I've stressed tested the hardware. All of this made no difference. I informed the customer and advised them that the most cost efficient way was to backup personal files and reinstall a fresh copy of Windows. They were more than happy to oblige. The customer doesn't have recovery discs, but the system does have a recovery partition. However, there is no option at boot time to go to the recovery console. You're supposed to be able to go into the advanced boot options and select "repair your computer" or something of the like, however that option is not on the advanced boot options. So I thought, no problem, I'll just boot into safe mode and create recovery discs from the partition using the Toshiba Recovery Disc Creator. The process got to about 75% of the first disc burnt when it popped up with an error saying it couldn't access the boot.wim file. I tried this on different types of media all with the same results, thus leading me to believe that the restore partition was corrupt. To check that, I ran sfc /scannow and it gets to 41% and hangs. So now I'm stuck with no recovery discs, unaccessible/corrupt recovery partition, and Vista only boots into safe mode. I did use magic jellybean keyfinder and pulled the key from the OS. I was wondering whether I could install from a retail disc of Vista and use this key. I'm pretty sure its an OEM key. Or if there is someway to fix the corrupt recovery partition. Any advice would be most helpful. Sorry for the long winded post.

The recovery partition IS accessible while the Recovery Disc Creator program is open. When I run the program, but before I start anything in it, it allows me to manually access the partition.
