Here I'll start...

I bought my computer from Best Buy and bought Office 365, plus a one-year Geek Squad support which includes antivirus for 3 computers. I chose WebRoot.

Don't get me started. :D

"I dropped my laptop. We ran some data recovery programs, but the drive is now clicking and won't read any more."

"The RAID failed last week and all our attempts to rebuild have failed. How fast can you recover the data?"

"Even after putting the drive in the freezer over night, it is still clicking when we power it on."

(Upon running D7, and checking the diagnostic screen)
"Service pack x required"

Updating a machine
187 critical updates required

I spilled something on it 4 days ago and try to dry it with a fan/heat duct but now......

I just want a diagnostic, I do not want you to fix it. Oh and I forgot an left a few things unplugged when I was looking around inside at it earlier.

I didn't click on anything, it just popped up.

Can I watch you fix it? (while in my store).

I am looking for a wireless antenna booster so I can pickup my neigbors internet better.

It was working fine when I brought it into you.

Here is the price to fix your laptop... Cust: Great, lets get it fixed. Me: Do you want data recovery? Cust: Yes, my files are important. Me: Ok, your total for repairs and data recovery will be $X. Cust: Ah forget it, that is too much money to stick into that computer.

I am looking for a good quality, fast used laptop for around $100

I need my MS office back on the computer! Me: Where are your discs or COA, etc? Cust: It just came on the computer, I do not have discs.

"I have a really simply problem, it should only take you five minutes to fix..."

"My brother/cousin/girlfriend/etc is really good with computers, and he/she says..."

here's another one...things I hate hearing...

I'm sure this will be a quick fix for you, but after Googling and trying some things myself in the registry, I'm afraid I can't afford much to fix this....so how much do you think it will be.

omg another.

Cust: So just a few weeks ago you did a tune up on my computer and since then, the printer hasn't worked.

Me: Let me look up your ticket, oh wow, that was last summer

Cust: Oh really? Are you still going to charge me

Diagnostic Fee? But you didn't DO anything!!
How much? I can get it for €2 on Ebay.
I DEFINITELY left my charger here.
I got this fixed here last month and now........

My computer has never worked quite the same since you worked on it last. (which was 2 years ago and just now complaining)

My friend that knows a few things says it can only be this problem.

I just have a quick question.....

or just after reinstalling windows on a customer's pc. "I don't have any office or photoshop cd's or activation codes because they came with the pc."

"My computer was doing X, so I took it to this guy from Craigslist who charged me Y, and now my computer is doing Z and I can't find him..."

"My computer was doing X, so I went on the internet, found this forum and the guy told me to do Y and Z...and now it doesn't work at all...do you think you can fix it" - they hand me a plastic bag full of components all broken down -

We found this PC at a garage sale or we just had this pc laying around in our basement.

Them: My computer is not working right. I get some kind of error message.

Me: So what did the error message say?

Them: I don't know I didn't read it. Windows something something..... How should I know.

*sigh*

What is worse is when they are right in front of you showing you the problem and they click the error message box away before I can read it.

"Go ahead and resubmit the check - I swear it's good now." (coupled with) "Here try this card (# 4 of 4) it should go through, I have no idea why the others aren't working today..."

Aaaaand my all time favorite. "Yes I know we have an outstanding balance of ( insert any figure that's painful) but we filed for Chapter 11 a few days after your invoice and the funds are tied up."

When you install software, enter the code and it says "serial not recognised"

And

When you ask where the desktop serial is, and it happens to be on the back of the machine.

And you have to perform major construction ( more commonly destruction followed by some renovation. ) in order to get the machine out.

You worked on my computer 6 months ago but another tech said I need this part to make my internet work right and I want it done free.

Had someone else want a tuneup. Quote them the price for cleaning it out. Get call later not to do it. A tech their relatve in another state says rhey have a condiut virus and the only way to be sure you get rid of those was to blow away the computer. He's willing to do this free.

I'm just saying if you can't remove conduit do you really have any business being a tech?????
