Just got a referral to very small business with four computers. Looked at the heap of network equipment on the floor and said this is an accident waiting to happen....nodded in agreement. We need to get a new router and switch in here that is business grade...nodded. I just need you to sign this one page agreement....handed me the check for the first block of hours. Check already made out without me even providing an invoice yet. This is going to be a good client!
So much of this business is about getting and keeping good clients. It saps your energy when you have ones who don't pay on time, don't value your advice or become demanding.
