I use AVG-Free and recommend it to people ALL the time, however i'm also a fan of NOD32.

AVG-Free is... FREE and works just as well as anything else i've ever used, scans my computer every day after automatically updating itself automatically, it's just nice nice nice from the top to the bottom.

Last time I checked, AVG FREE was FREE for non comercial purposes.
If you use it on your business computers you are in breach of EULA.
