For now i'm just looking for any techs that have experienced this issue.

I turn on the microsoft surface pro 1 and then it shows the surface logo and at the bottom middle it says "Preparing Automatic Repair" immediately after it says:

Recovery

Your PC/Device needs to be repaired

error code: 0xc000000e

You'll need to use recovery tools if you don't have any installation media (like a disc or USB device) contact your PC administrator or PC/Device manufacturer.

The thing is I have gone to the website and made a surface usb rescue drive and no matter how many times I try it or how many usb flash drives I try it with it will not boot from usb (edit: yes using fat32). It won't even boot from a usb cd drive. I have held the volume button down while powering it on, held the volume button up while powering it on (which is suppose to enter the super simple uefi which it doesnt but i can get into that bios with the windows key at that error code screen. I have tried with and without secure boot on. I am afraid I will have to resort to opening this surface up and getting one of those msata adapters to try to resolve the problem but even then it may end up being a physical hardware problem.

I have a refurbished replacement coming in the mail for additional testing but just wanted to run it by you guys to see if you've encountered this one.

Edit: Oh right this issue started out of the blue after I booted the computer up and the surface logo showed up but then the screen went black and stayed that way. The screen was still on but it just showed black, no cursor or anything like that. I waited a while then tapped the power button and it restarted then thats when the issue started.

Edit2: You know what maybe I should have ran the battery life out of it just in case something remained in memory?

Well guys I wish I had more detail but heres what happened.

I decided while watching tv I was going to keep trying. I used a patriot supersonic 16gb usb drive with the surface usb recovery data written on it. I had secureboot disabled. While I was watching tv I would hold down the power button for long periods of time like over 30 seconds and then I would hold down the volume down key and tap the power button to turn on the system. On rare occasion as soon as the surface logo text came up I would see the usb flash drive being read and I would let the volume down key go and the same error message would come up. I kept trying over and over while I was watching tv and eventually I saw the usb flash drive being read a ton and sure enough I was able to restore the surface.

Honestly I cant think of a single thing different I did and this must have been like try # 60 or so.

Edit: I may be a fool for trying the same thing over and over and expecting different results but i'm a fool with a working surface :D
