Having a hell of a time finding some of the basics in bulk...

Looking for things like keystone jacks, wallplates, low-voltage boxes, J-hooks, velcro ties, etc...

I can find all of those things... in individual retail packages, or at best in like 10-packs. Anyone have a good supplier for things like that? (Yes, I've been all over places like Newegg and Amazon.) CDW has 25-packs of keystone jacks, but at $70 it seems like I should be able to find them cheaper somewhere else. Hell... I can pick them up for that price at the local hardware store.

Sure would be nice if there were a place I could get everything I needed for a job in one spot.

Have a look at 4 Cabling. www.4cabling.com.au/ They are pretty handy for stuff like that. They are an Aus based site. I haven't ordered from them in a while I can't remember if they ship internationally but definatly worth a look. Also very well priced.

Buying in bulk won't save you too much. Some of the stuff I stock. I buy junction boxes Nd wall plates from Lowe's the day before the job.

Monoprice is great for basically anything related to cabling. We got all of our supplies from them when we ran CAT5 through the walls in our shop

I did end up finding most things at a decent price last night... 100 rj45 keystones for $70 on eBay, for example. I'd just rather not resort to hours of Googling every time I need to order basic supplies like that. Definitely going to.check out monoprice when I get a chance today. :)

You'd be surprised how it adds up.

Single keystone jack...example at monoprice, single unit 1.22, purchase than 50 and it's 88 cents. That's 34 cents less per. Or about 28 percent savings.

Love monoprice. Their jacks are made by leviton, so they work perfectly in my rapid jack tool. We always keep a few hundred jacks and several thousand feet of cable in stock.

This is exactly the type of pricing I was looking for. Thanks a ton for the recommendation, Stonecat. I'd much rather go with Leviton jacks from monoprice than jacks from an unknown source on eBay.

They're not leviton, just made by them and without a brand. Still never had any problems, though.

I'll be getting the low-volt boxes from the hardware store at a decent price... but I found wallplates at a fraction of the cost on Evertek. Wholesale > retail.

*EDIT* Evertek's wallplates come in the individual blister packs, so they'd be perfect for stocking in inventory for resale. ;)

a year's worth for us :o

15 dollar savings!

No, but seriously, we stock about 100 jacks and 1000 feet of cable. The boxes and plates are on demand.

Reselling wall plates, huh? You mean USING them during a job?

No, I mean putting them on a f****** shelf as inventory.

I wasn't saying that's what I was going to do with them. I was pointing that out for the ones who HAVE a store... like Chris, who seems to have no problem selling them. REGARDLESS of how they're packaged, they still work out to be significantly cheaper than I've found anywhere else.

And on a side note, I was asking for recommendations on suppliers... not for people with nothing to do to be a dick and criticize my very valid point.

Sorry doc. Had a couple drinks last night. Was being picky I guess. Didn't mean to get under your skin.
