I am getting the most strange issues I have ever seen at an office I work at. Basically what is happening, is one computer we recently re-installed windows on, is constantly is getting errors (shown below) and I have no idea what to do with it. The company has a few servers, the PDC is running windows server 2003 R2. There is also a term server and a network printer (which is also messed up but we have a specialist coming in for that...). I am trying to figure out why this authenticated user on the network cannot print (because of some authentication error...)

Basically this is on-going. I tried sharing the network printer from another computer, and having him add the printer attached to another computer, but that never works more then 1 day.

these are the errors. Keep in mind, the user is connected to the network, logged in, able to browse other shares etc...

What version of Windows is this client running? Does the DC have an NTP server running? If so, do the other clients on the network update via NTP successfully?

Ok I was recently brought here, and am not familiar with the network (or a pro yet at server 2003 :p).

The client is running XP home I think. I need to check if there is an NTP. I can tell you, that we had a massive crash last week. The mirror on the raid was not working for some time, and the main drive died... basically I think there are some random errors but no one here is capable of fixing it, I'm the only one close to the skill level... so bare with me :o

I know that we have an active directory domain setup here, everyone logs in, setup ok for now. (One issue maybe related, I'm an admin from active dir user area but when I login to a workstation I get permission errors...)

How can I check NTP ??

about permission errors for me (admin in the domain), on a workstation - in fact the IT workstation, I just tried to install this program I want to try called spiceworks, but It said "must be installed with admin privilages" but I logged in as an admin for the domain. Should that not enable me admin access to the workstations?

Below is a link to the MS KB article on NTP for WIndows 2003:

http://support.microsoft.com/kb/816042

First thing I would check is the domain settings on the XP PC. I know Vista and 7 home cannot connect to a domain, not sure about XP home. So check to see if the PC is even connected to a domain. If it's not, it would explain why it wouldn't be able to contact a DC for NTP.

I thought you couldn't use windows home on windows server networks without serious modification to several registry keys. I thougth the information was rather esoteric.

I know that's true of Vista and 7 but wasn't sure about XP. I'm pretty sure that's the case in XP as well which could very well be his issue.
