Ziomek,
In Illinois you can file your DBA (a.k.a. trade name, assumed name or fictitious business name) yourself with your local County Clerk's office. Or, use a legal document service such as LegalZoom to handle the entire process for you.
LegalZoom charges $99.00 plus state filing fees for Illinois DBA's. Click here to learn more about pricing.
You have to file with the county, then file a legal notice in a newspaper for 3 weeks. Then you receive proof of publication and submit it to the county who will then give you your Assumed name certificate. For me, it was going to be 50.00 to file and 100.00 for the newspaper. I did it with Legalzoom for 114.00.
I would find out how much it would cost and then compare. FYI, if you choose to do legalzoom, there are coupons you can use. I used a 15 dollar off one. If I find it, ill post.
Here is a site that will help: I can't post URL's yet but replace the $ with .
