Is anyone else had a drop in customer calls over the past week? I'm blaiming the snow but I've got a funny feeling that it could be due to the Google Places change that took place last month in the serps.

:(

I've been really busy for the last coupla months, and this week is dead as a doornail!

I'm getting loads of hits on my Google Places (I'm #1 for computer repair in the resutls) and also loads of hits on my website

I also blame the snow and Xmas

normally this ime of year is quietish compared to normal.

But at the moment we are alot busier than normal with virus removals. Think the snow actually helping as users are at home bored and messing around with their pcs when normally be at school or work.

I've had a slow couple of weeks, till this week. It's been manic.

Historically Nov / Dec, have always been awesome months for me, but Nov I was really down in terms of turnover.

I always close down the week before xmas, and re-open in Jan. All my clients are aware of this; and I have had no issues with this. The only things I will do are new setups, virus removals etc. I don't do any jobs where I need parts, as the time involved can be days, due to delivery and the snow etc.

agh, don't get me started! I made a minor change to my places listing Oct 3rd and I've been stuck in "pending review" purgatory since!! I was 2nd in the top 7 and had all positive reviews, I have gotten feedback from the support forums, but they are not google employees, seems all you can do is wait. I'm down about 50% in calls and I'm sure its due to it, my existing customers at least still call occasionally. All I want for Xmas is my listing back! So for all of you out there DO NOT EDIT YOUR PLACES LISTING! in any way!:(

We had residential slow down drastically last month while commercial and government were going strong. As of this week all three are on fire. Noticed a large increase in purchases over support calls though. Businesses that have extra money at the end of the year are reinvesting it back into their businesses, and residential users are looking to spoil themselves or loved ones with new computers. I've found that professional service businesses (healthcare related, lawyers, etc) are good bread and butter when everything else is slow. Least round these parts. :-)

I am expecting it to get busy because of the new problem with AVG.

When people update from 2010 to 2011 it makes most computers unbootable. Another reason not to use AVG, but good for us.

My business clients are keeping me busy as ever.
I'm offering a PC tuneup special in a local coupon magazine for the next 2 months to test the waters for opening up a PC repair shop separate from my business.
I've had at least one PC on the bench every other day.
For me thats pretty swamped as I usually only do 1 or 2 per month.

30 clients so far this week and it's Thursday. I'm having a great week.

Mix of computer cleanings and viruses. It's a toss up to see who's winning.

Nothing heavy like AVG dumps, but I already saw virus blaze right through AVG 11. Kim Commando (sp) told all her listeners to download it and right away....bam, got right through!

Just create a new listing - I've had to to that before! It scares me how much I rely on google for my business. I'm going to have to conentrate on keeping relationships up with past clients. I've just created a facebook page so this will hopefulyl help a bit.

As for calls - seems to have lifted since the start of the week. My guess that people were stuck indoors because the snow!
