Slip stream Vista?

Has someone come up with a way to slip stream Vista yet? I tried about a year and a half ago. I found one web page that had instructions but they failed. I spent about a week on that one.

Vista is such a pain in the ass to update to the latest update. It takes many hours. I also hate how update 21 of 68 stops until you realize that there an Internet Explorer update pop up window BEHIND the update window and until you click to accept installing it you might think that it was stuck or corrupted. Just an overall Microsoft fail.

make a universal image with all of your apps and all the updates etc then just deploy on each machine with a driverpacks folder. Run the driverpacks and then swap and activate the product key.

paragon, acronis and storagecraft and microsoft all have systems for this.

I use paragon with sysprep. Works great for me.

Driverpacks? Is that hardware drivers specific to the computer?

I remember hearing a few years ago about someone who had created XP images for every motherboard type. He said that it took weeks to create these images on a huge drive, but afterwards he was able to reinstall Windows in less than 10 minutes, all updated and done. But I guess you're saying that you can create just one image, only importing the hardware drivers and changing the product key?

How about Vlite?. you can slipstream drivers, service packs, programs etc. (It's made by the authors of Nlite, the XP slipstream program).

If you buy Acronis True Image w. Universal Restore, you can create one vista installation, branded, with updates and whatever software, image it, and then restore it onto any hardware literally by ticking one box. That way you can have a reinstall complete in about 10-20 minutes, ready to go.

No. Its a large, batch-installing pack of drivers. Can be used with Vista/Windows 7 or XP. There will usually be a couple to put in manually but it takes care of the bulk of the grunt-work in a fresh install. Its also a hell load easier than manually running each driver installation.

You can run it from a cd but the fastest option is to include it in the image and then run it from hard disk then just delete the folder when done.

An image for each OS version then just deploy and change license key. The images do a 'mini install' when booted for the first time, but the process is a lot quicker than a full windows install.

The other advantage is that you can have all your apps and branding / windows customizations / whatever on the new OS done and dusted because it was all set up when the OS was imaged. In other words, its literally driver install then key change and activate, then the machine's good to go.

^This works, I've done this in the past. I have discs slipstreamed with sp1 and others with sp2.

What about HAL and mass storage drivers? Some systems won't even boot to windows due to mass storage drivers. Is that where "Adjust OS" comes in, in the Paragon Software? I have bought Drive Copy Professional due to what it does and what you mentioned in other threads. I have used it a few times and it works great but all I did was move a hard drive from one machine to another. I also bought it for the P2V features.
I ran into a situation that failed in the Paragon Software; and its when you are creating backup/image of drive. If it runs into any issues (mainly errors and bad sectors) then the image fails. Is there any way to get a successful image of drive? Otherwise I use Acronis True Image because it ignores errors and bad sectors. Let me know. Well I hope this contributes to this thread if not please let me know and I will just create another regarding to my situation. Thanks and have a good day guys.

Does the vLite method allow to to get ALL of the latest KB updates too?
I am in the process of creating a slip stream CD. This site talks about SP1 and SP2. Not sure if you can drop the KB updates including Internet Explorer 9 and all of the .net framework updates.

Couldn't I do this with ImgBurn too?
