SLI ready Power supply recommendation

I got a "cyberpower" gaming rig in the other day and looks to be a bad power supply. No big deal. Except finding one to match the specs with good quality at an affordable price is a problem.

The PSU is a Ultra ULT-LS5000P 500watt. I think I want to go a bit larger say about 600 watts because the rig has some neon lights, Dual video cards. Also, The Motherboard uses a 8pin connector. The video cards both use 6pin connectors.

So, Any recommendations would be appreciated.

What a junk PSU in a dual card 'gaming PC'!

Just look up the mobo, cards etc. and get a decent PSU. Thing is because of all the junk PSUs around, the GPU manufacturers give crazy min specs for their cards: if a card draws 150W they end up recommending a 500W because the junk '500W' ones can really only supply 250W or so.

Just stick to a Seasonic made one (Seasonic, some high Corsairs, some XFX etc.). There's a PSU reivew database

What video cards are they? If they only take a single six-pin each, then 600W should be good. I really like the Seasonic X650 (I personally have two), it has an 8-pin CPU and four 6-pin PCIe connectors, gold-rated efficiency, fully modular, quiet, etc. It's not cheap but you get what you pay for.

EDIT: I always check with jonnyguru.com or hardocp.com on potential PSU purchases because they actually properly load-test them. Most sites just build the highest-end rig they can and if the PSU doesn't blow up give it editor's choice.

Because the repair has to be a quick one (I cannot wait a week to ship it in) I am going to try this one:

Viotek Pro ps-vtk-800w-24pin

Give it a shot and next time I will be more prepared with the good ps database!

That PSU should work, but only if you treat it as a 600W at most. Those eBay specials usually have overly optimistic wattages listed.
