Shop owners: Do you offer Faxing or Copying ?

I seem to get alot of people walking into the shop who think that my shop does faxing or copying. Do any of you offer this ?. Anybody know what it costs to buy/rent a fax and/or copy machine that can be used by the public?. I dont know if these machines are coin operated or what but it seems like it could make a few bucks if its cheap enough to get started.

I have been looking into this too. In my area (lots of tourists) I thought of offering digital transfers from cameras to CD/DVD so they can free up the flash drives. Sell flash cards also. Thinking along the lines of cyber shop so that tourists can download and send in whatever media they want. What do you guys think?

I say do it. You already get people coming in looking for a copier, so it should work out for you. As long as the outlay is low enough, of course.

All the copier shops near me ask you to pay at the till and then make the copies you paid for, but at my College there is a pre paid (copy) card that you pay for at the till and then you can choose whatever value you want to put on the card, so only that amount can be printed out. Good way of ensuring no-one makes more copies when you arent looking

I did offer it for awhile until I moved into a new office, now I have a print shop down stairs and I just send my customers there.

Well that's not likely to happen to me. All I got downstairs is a moldy basement full of mice. Hmmm.... I hope they are not thinking of starting a copy business.

That's a great idea!!! I haven't thought of that yet. I do type papers for people however. I charge $10 to do that and that's really based on time.

You can pick up a Brother IntelliFax 4100e at office depot for I believe around $250.00. We use it here in the office and its a good unit. Don't have very many problems with it at all. It does copying also but thats probably better suited for a real copier.
