Router Choice

Ok they ended up going with the Linksys router.. I also got them a TP-link unmanaged switch. The problem is they have now decided to get comcast voice edge. I talked to the comcast technician today and he said that they need one port on a manged switch.

My question is would it be easier and more cost effective to just get a smaller managed switch or return the unmanaged switch and just have one managed switch.

Make sure you upgrade the firmware for the Linksys.

If it was me I would buy a separate managed switch since you already purchased the other. Run the managed switch off one port of the router just for Comcast voice. If it was me that's what I would do.

The LRT224 has a 4 port managed switch built in. So you can just separate one port for VoIP QoS. But I would make sure to investigate this well. ISP's often do some odd things which cause problems with certain pieces of equipment, especially when it comes to VoIP. And ditto on making sure the firmware is up to date.
