Hello Friends,

I need a suggestion from experts here.

I have a new IT Support business and we want to give users free mcafee antivirus if they buy our support plan.

How can I get MCAfee antivirus for home and small business users at reseller price and download only option? We want to buy atleast 25 License keys at one time to keep inventory and install it on user's computer when needed.

Thanks
Sal

Obviously I googled

Thanks for quick answer but I have already googled and problem did not resolve. MCAfee partner program does not offer retail products as per conversation with them

I hate to be that guy, but why in the world would you want to resell McAfee? Especially when they are so many better options available.

I was biting my tongue...it was getting hard to hold back.....
I guess 2x to guarantee you'll have lots of work cleaning up computers....sell McCrapee or AVG.

You mean better option in terms of price or some other reason? Many of our customers ask for McAfee.

That's because it's well known. As the expert it's often your job to inform people what would work best for them, instead of just giving them what they want.

I don't know how many times someone has come in with a "bad hard drive" but it ended up just being a system that was running WAY to much with to little resources available.

Also, you say you are offering a support plan. If you are using RMM software for that (and why wouldn't you!?) that may have Anti-Virus built in.

Stick around for a while and you will get access to the managed services forum. It has TONS of information about different RMM solutions.

No offense, but I'd tell them use a free antivirus before I recommend Mcafee antivirus. Seen way too many machines with Mcafee installed just overrun. I remember one machine in particular that came in with Mcafee, could not get online, could not even uninstall Mcafee for the sake of troubleshooting as it would not allow me to. Had to use a 3rd party tool to basically brute force delete all of Mcafee's program files and registry entries to pull it out of the computer by the roots. Put a competing product on, machine was happy as a lark and working perfectly months later even. Maybe Mcafee has improved? But I don't recommend their products yet based on my experiences.

Thanks

I'll definitely checkout RMM solutions. We have hosted remote desktop solution on our server but obviously it does not have antivirus features etc

I see

So, which one is best for home users and which for business users?

We haven't had much complaints about MCAfee so far but yes, we are new. So, might be better to stay away from troubles.

Thanks

Everyone has their favourites but many people rate Kaspersky.

Generally speaking, McAfee and Norton are not considered as good as they used to be. As you're starting out it may be an idea to check the AV Comparatives site regularly.

Watch out for false positives with Bitdefender though. I have seen it break line of business apps more then once. It does not blatantly do it either, say by quarantining a file. It just makes thing stop working, the only way I found around this is removing it completely. It used to be part of my maintenance package, but not anymore.

I buy Kaspersky for cheap, wherever I can get it cheapest at the time no point in trying to become a A/V reseller for home users. Good thing about Kaspersky is you can buy really old versions for cheap, download the latest version from their site, install it on the customers PC and use the license key.

I brought a bulk load of Kaspersky Internet Security 2010 3PC from Amazon the other day for about £10 each, I can sell it at £25 no problem.
