I an going to upgrade a customers newer computer upgraded to windows 10 with a custom application on it, they bought the computer from a local repair shop it is a Q1900 all in one motherboard Celeron CPU combo VERY SLOW to reinstall windows is possible but the custom application has to be done by the support team for their software and it is not cheap and just completed a month ago. Anyone tried sysprep on windows 10 machine then place in new computer to see if it would boot up correctly and stay activated..

I have not and cannot fully answer your question, but I am sure that given that there's a new mobo and CPU, Windows will treat the computer as a brand new computer and will require a brand new product key if the original is an OEM key. Retail key should be fine.

It wont work UNLESS you install the OLD OS on the new board FIRST and activate the old OS then upgrade it to ten and be sure it activated. Then IMAGE you sysprepped old image to the new board.

You can stream line this a bit by checking this out first.

We can now skip an in place upgrade and go straight to a clean install using the old Windows (7-8.1) product key now with the Windows 10 Fall Update.

From a small computer store so i think it is a retail key i will look for the coa
