Load time and doing away with flash was my main concern. The new site is lacking the same level of content; this is just the shell and I plan on adding more. But what do you like better about the old one?

In 1366x768 resolution I can see down to about 3/4 of the slider on your home page. And while you, me, and most of the guys on this site probably have moved past lower res screens, take automatically assume your customer base has done the same.

The scrolling is an issue, but the bigger issue is what happens 'above the fold.' The only substantial information I get from your site without being forced to scroll is your name and the links. Why would I scroll down if the first thing I see doesn't impress me. Since I can't even see the entire slider, I have little to be impressed with. Can you make the slider smaller, or even better, get rid of it altogether? Sliders have been shown to not be effective and thus are useless space hogs, in most cases.

Lastly, your new name is, umm, well, it bytes. I just don't think associating yourself with that negative connotation is the way to go.

Hahaaa. I see what you did there! But on a serious note I was thinking more along the lines of "Bytes = bites" You know.. chomp chomp. And I don't think the correlation with byte and technology needs an explanation. The current logo is just a placeholder until I get one that brings the whole concept together. Thanks for your advice though and I do agree with your concerns about the homepage; I will look into ways to get piece everything "together"

Dont look at sites on here much, but for some reason your name and logo have always grabbed me... the new stuff does not.

But the real reason I am posting, is because of the easily recognizable photos used on your slider.... not trying to be a copyright nazi, but just to cover your butt: Do you have permission from iFixit to use their pics? the iPad comparison I originally saw on Ars Technica's review of iFixit's iPad4 teardown. Just sayin that if I recognize em, someone else might. I don't know if they care but just wanted to make sure you knew they were recognized....

Those images that you see in the slider are placeholders until I upload some of my own. I changed the name because it was too long and it was difficult for people to remember. I would get people saying "is this the rex??" Is this high-tech t rex?... or "is this the uhmm... high tech dinosaur." So I changed it to something shorter and easily memorized. On top of that "HighTechRex" is sort of a tongue twister. What don't you like about the new layout? Its sort of in its beta phases. My sites if you remember went through about 4-6 revisions over a few weeks before I was happy

Also. I do see where you all are coming from with the scrolling issue. When I made my home page I only had 3 pages and my services were not explained in detail (hence the mini sliders) Im thinking of redoing the homepage since now there are 2 additional pages explaining all the services in detail. Stay posted

Right on! In that case, no problem!

As for what I don't like: all of it. or maybe none of it.
I liked HighTechRex purely because it was a tongue twister, therefore I had to remember it. We have the same problem, people cant remember our name. all they can remember is "the computer store in Spring Hill" and our name is Spring Hill Electronics, so it should be easy to remember! Also HTR worked very well with the dino... RexBytes kinda sounds like a breakfast cereal to me...
As for site layout, doesn't bother me at all... I'm used to the first half of a page being useless, the second half being half as useful and the rest of the site having the actual info. So in reality your sites does better than most in my opinion, cause the first half at least gives me the info right there, and in big pictures. the second half expands upon some basic ideas... but the color scheme is hard on the eyes IMO.
Last but not least: the logo. I followed your thread when finding it, I know this is what the community kinda directed you towards, but its too cutsie for my tastes... as a customer, I wouldn't be inclined to visit you.... But then I liked your old logo, so I might be slightly bias...

Now I want to caveat the above by saying I am typically overly critical on these things, hence why I rarely post about websites. Anything said above means no disrespect, and I realize that my opinions are generally not those of the general populace, therefore should be taken lightly! ;)

Well, I wasn't really kidding about the new name. I may be the only one, but when I hear "RexBytes," I hear "Rex bites," as in, "That Rex guy is not good at computer repair." Now, just to be clear, I am not saying that you are good or bad at what you do, I am sure you know what you are doing, but the name RexBytes really does have that negative connotation, for me at least.

Mate get rid of the pictures, they take up far to much space on the page, customers know what a ipads and laptop look like.

If you are going to put images on your landing page put one of yourself, people like to put a face to the person there dealing with.

Your brand name and logo needs have more presence on the page.
